CS:GO Super League Main Event 2017 Preview

Before we jump into the Finals of the CS:GO: Super League 2017, let’s have a look at the road of the four teams that made it to the Finals through the Summer and Spring Qualifiers.

Summer Qualifiers

The participants of the summer qualifier were:

  • B.O.O.T-dream[S]cape
  • ViCi Gaming
  • UYA
  • Flash Gaming

These four teams made it to the Summer Qualifiers after some incredible performances in the online qualifiers. Each of these teams had one objective to claim, that is to Qualify for the main tournament, by securing the top two spots. The road wasn’t easy though as the competition was played in a Double-Elimination Bracket. This meant that you can lose only one game in the semis, where you will be knocked down to the lower bracket. Moreover, another defeat there meant getting knocked out of the competition.

Tthe action started from the Upper Bracket. Flashing Gaming beat B.O.O.T-dream[S]cape 2-0, while in the other game, UYA gave some tough time to ViCi Gaming but lost 2-1. So, B.O.O.T-dream[S]cape and UYA were knocked to the lower bracket. That is where all hopes of UYA for qualifying to the Main Event were demolished by the opposition as the beat UYA 2-0. So, now B.O.O.T-dream[S]cape had to wait for the loser of the upper bracket match between Flash and ViCi Gaming. Flash defeated ViCi comprehensively by a score of 2-0. While in the lower bracket ViCi Gaming asserted their dominance, and beat the opposition 2-0.

In the end, Flash Gaming was again up against Vici for the top seed. The Tigers showed no signs weaknesses and got the top spot without dropping a single game in the Summer Qualifiers as they beat Vici Gaming 2-0. So, after the dust settled Flash and VicI Gaming are the winner of Summer Qualifiers.

Spring Qualifiers

The teams competed in the Spring were:

  • To.be.or.not.to.be
  • Eclipse
  • NEW4
  • TyLoo

The spring qualifiers were played in the Star Union Arena, Beijing. The format was same as it was in the Summer Qualifiers. So, the first match of the upper Bracket was played between To.be.or.not.to.be and Tyloo, where To.be.or.not.to.be was beaten 2-0. The Same result was achieved by Eclipse as they beat NEW4 2-0. So NEW4 and To.be.or.not.to.be were fighting for survival in the lower bracket.

The miserable, winless run of To.be.or.not.to.be got them knocked out of the competition as they were defeated 2-0 by NEW4. However, NEW4 was unable to defeat the loser of the upper bracket Eclipse and lost 2-0. So, in the final Tyloo and Eclipse competed for the top spot. However, déjà vu of the upper bracket final happened and Tyloo again defeated eclipse 2-0 in the grand finale. So, Eclipse and Tyloo fill the last two spots in the Main Tournament which is set to take place in October.

So, the last four teams are:

  • Eclipse
  • Tyloo
  • ViCi Gaming
  • Flash Gaming

These teams will compete from 14th to 15th October at Chengde in a double elimination format to claim the ¥200,000 (CNY) prize pool. Every team will get a bite of the cherry which means that no team goes empty-handed from the competition. The distribution of the prize pool is:

  • 1st - ¥ 100,000
  • 2nd - ¥ 50,000
  • 3rd - ¥ 30,000
  • 4th - ¥ 20,000

To earn the first position will be the objective of every team and we can’t wait to see the top team from China competing to become the best in the CS:GO Super League 2017!
