Eurovision 2017 betting odds Greece
The song which represents Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 has been chosen. Demy was internally selected by ERT to represent the country in Kyiv. Demy’s Eurovision entry has been produced and composed by Dimitris Kontopoulos. Fokas Evangelinos will be responsible for Demy’s choreography and staging in Kyiv.During the show, the 3 competing songs were presented in the form of dedicated video clips that the Greek entrant Demy filmed in both Greece and Ukraine.
All three songs were written by Dimitris Kontopoulos, a writer who has previously written six Eurovision entries, all of which have appeared in the top ten of the Grand Final. No pressure Demy. “This Is Love” was chosen over “Angels” and “When The Morning Comes Around”.
Demy appeared live on the show alongside composer Dimitris Kontopoulos and Fokas Evangelinos, stage director of the Greek song in Kyiv. Hovig, Cyprus' representative in 2017 also took part in the programme singing his entry Gravity, alongside Sunstroke Project from Moldova who performed ”Hey Mamma”. The show was hosted by Greek actor Antonis Loudaros and journalist Elena Bouzala.
The music video has a black and white filter on apart from her stunning red dress, which totally stands out. Her professionalism is obvious in the pure performance visual, that is completely filled with energetic vibes that we cannot wait to see her unleash on stage.
The video shooting took place with an amazing team and we would like to thank Tzou, Yannis and Manos for their excellent and professional collaboration. In the video clip the shooting of which lasted for many many hours there are various faces presented: wild, gay, straight, coloured, drag and more. Demy herself arrived around noon and started preparations for her video shooting session which lasted also for hours!
The song ”This is love” was chosen by 30% of juries from Greek communities of the Diaspora (from Belgium, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Germany, Armenia, Italy, Australia, Austria and Ukraine) and 70 % of voting of viewers and revenue generated by SMS and phone calls that will be donated to charities. Eight of the nine Greeks living abroad voted for ”This Is Love” with one voting for ”When the Morning Comes Around”. The results of the televote were then announced and ”This Is Love” was declared the winner.
Demy, Dimitra Papadea, was born in 1991 in Athens, Greece. She is signed to Panik records and, among other accolades, she won Best New Artist in the 2012 MAD Music Awards. Dimitris Kontopoulos and Fokas Evaggelinos were involved in the Eurovision Song Contest several times in the past, most recently in last year's Russian entry ”You Are The Only One”, that placed third in Stockholm as performed by Sergey Lazarev.
At the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, Greece will compete in the first semi-final. They have been allocated a spot in the second half. Last year, the country failed to reach the final for the first time with Argo and their ”Utopian Land” which you can re-watch in the video below.
