Latvia in Eurovision Song Contest Odds
Triana Park triumphed at Supernova 2017 song contest and won the rights to represent Latvia at the Eurovision Song Contest with its song Line. Triana Park also won at Supernova 2017 semi-final with the song written by Agnese Rakovska, Kristaps Erglis and Kristians Rakovskis. In this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Latvia will be performing during the second half of Semi-final 1 on May 9.
Supernova 2017 saw four artists performing to represent Latvia in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. The winner was chosen out of four finalists that made their way through 22 entries during the previous shows. In contrast to the heats and semi-finals, where the results were chosen by televoting and a jury
Triana Park was chosen solely by the Latvian public in the final. The runners up were My Radiant You. Santa was third, with The Ludwig placing fourth. Asked to announce the winner's name, the judge on the end, Kaspars Roga said words to this effect: "Latvia is a green and pleasant land with lots of open spaces and PARKS. And so it's appropriate that the the winner is... Triana PARK!"
The band shined during their performance, using neon colours and glowing words on boards throughout their performance. It was a visual experience that we hope they make bigger and better for the Eurovision stage. Agnese wore a purple dress. The audience whooped and hollered throughout the whole performance.
The band's history also includes several investments in Latvian music festivals and international, as well as the release of a debut album in 2010 and an EP in 2014. The lead singer of the group Agnes Rakovska - also the author of the text line - took part in many television programs, including the latest edition of the Latvian version of ”Tale and What Show” . One of the first thoughts their fans definitely have in mind will be about their extraordinary shows and extravagant lead singer Agnese Rakovska. But the second one will definitely be about their music which is kaleidoscopic mix of rock, pop and swing, a little from hip-hop with powerful vocal and enough boldness to achieve stars. Every Triana Park performance is like a great party where everyone would like to be invited to.
The members of the band reactions after they found out that they are the winners can be described as a very brave obe: "At the we feel both so much joy but we also feel the responsibility we will have in our hands and voices," described Agnese. "Let's start serious work on what is expected," added team members.
Triana Park have participated in the Latvian selection for the Eurovision Song Contest several times. The band has attempted to represent Latvia a total of five times, in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012; it just shows that with persistence you can eventually win, although a break was probably much needed too.
Latvia hopes to continue their recent revival in Eurovision. After a long streak of bad results, Aminata brought the country two consecutive places in the final. First as a singer, then last year in Stockholm as composer for Justs’ song.
