Romania Eurovision 2017 odds

Ilinca and Alex Florea will represent Romania at the Eurovision 2017 with the song "Yodel It" after they won the final national selection Eurovision 2017, with 10.377 votes obtained. "Yodel it!" is an energetic mix of pop elements, hip hop, yodeling, with rock influences. Composed by Mihai Alexandru , composer with a history of 10 appearances in the final of Eurovision Romania, the song "Yodel it!"is signed by the songwriter Alexandra Niculae .

The winner was chosen solely by the public, which could support the favorites through televoting for one hour while the band The Arrival sang several of the songs success of ABBA, like "Voulez-vous "" SOS, "" Summer Night City "," Dancing Queen ".

"I think that the combination of such diverse styles - rock, rap, pop and yodeling - make the song so special. Our song brings something new and fits perfectly with the motto of the Eurovision 2017: "Celebrate Diversity", and I and Alex will give everything we can to be worthy of our time to represent our country, "said Ilinca during an interview, adding that she had no plans to enter the song for the Eurovision "but there were many who insisted that is perfect for this contest."

Ilinca, aged 18, turned into tears at the news that will represent Romania at Eurovision 2017 and wanted to thank Mihai Trăistariu, one of the people who discovered her and her partener years ago and helped her in improving her confidence. "Michael was the first that gave me confidence in myself when I  received a special prize at a festival. I thank him for this, "said the girl.  Second was ranked Mihai Trăistariu, a "veteran" of Eurovision, whose piece - "I Will not Surrender" - received 5201 votes. The artist congratulated the winners and promised to return every year on Eurovision stage: "I found them both (Ilinca and Alex Florea ).These young people are deserving to start a career. And I always come back to Eurovision until you send me back to represent Romania,” he added.

After perfecting her technique to make yodeling, Ilinca has won numerous awards in competitions and music festivals, most notably at the ”Mamaia Copiilor”. Currently, Alex is student of the Faculty of Arts, Department of Theatre, University Ovidius.  He tried with his brother on X Factor in 2014 but were rivals, and in 2015 became successful thanks to the Voice of Romania. Ilinca Băcilă became known after participating in 2014 at Romania's the Voice, surprising by its ability to make yodeling.

During and interview after the final the singers said that ”We are very passionate about what we do and we hope to shows that when we are on stage. We are young and full of ideas and momentum, but despite our youth, already have experience and are accustomed to the scene.”

Mihai Alexandru confessed in a press conference held after Eurovision national final that he created the song "Yodel It" for a band that currently represent Switzerland at Eurovision 2017. "The track was made up for Timebelle in Switzerland. After that, they received a song from Sweden where they remained for managers and dragged and dropped to my project and we stayed with the play and had to do something with it, "said Mihai Alexandru.

Romania with their official entry competes in the first half of the second semi-final evening of 11 May. The country returns to the contest after a one-year break due to disqualification from the EBU.
