CFL 2019 Odds

Who wins CFL 2019?

Odd unit: EU | UK | US

Although the 2019 Canadian Football League season is not set to begin until next summer, an expiring Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and an unprecedented number of free agents are sure to make this a very entertaining offseason. The 107th Grey Cup will take place on November 24, 2019, at McMahon Stadium in Calgary.

The current five-year CBA will expire next May, and the CFL Player's Association and the CFL must come to terms on a new agreement. Some of the topics that will be discussed include salaries, worker's compensation, and player safety. The minimum salary for a league player in 2018 was set at $54,000.

The CFL offseason will also be full of action with all type of transactions with more than 300 free agents that could potentially be available when free agency begins on Feb. 12, 2019. The list of pending free agents includes some of the biggest names in the CFL including star quarterbacks Bo Levi Mitchell, Mike Reilly, and Trevor Harris.

Mitchell, 28, is a two-time Grey Cup Champion who has also won two Most Outstanding Player awards. The 33-year-old Reilly has also won two Grey Cup titles and has thrown 148 touchdown passes in 97 CFL starting assignments. Harris won the Grey Cup in 2012 and 2016, and set a league record in 2018 with six touchdown passes in a single playoff game.

The long list of notable pending free agents also includes two-time CFL Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Stanley Bryant, and defensive linemen Micah Johnson and Willie Jefferson. Offensively, running back William Powell and talented receivers Bryan Burnham, Derel Walker, Brandon Banks, Greg Ellingson, DaVaris Daniels, and Duke Williams are all playmakers that can help teams put more points on the scoreboard.

Both the Toronto Argonauts and the BC Lions will be looking for a new head coach for the upcoming season. Former Chicago Bears field general Marc Trestman was let go by the Argonauts, while Wally Buono - who is the CFL's all-time leader with 282 wins - announced his retirement after 12 seasons with the Lions.

Calgary Stampeders defensive coordinator DeVone Claybrooks and Winnipeg Blue Bombers offensive coordinator Paul LaPolice are both in the running for the top spot in Toronto. The Lions have also been granted permission to talk with Claybrooks about their vacant head coach position.

The Stampeders finally captured the league crown in 2018 after finishing second the two previous seasons. However, unless Calgary re-signs Mitchell, reaching another Grey Cup championship game will not be an easy task.
