BAYER LEVERKUSEN MANAGER

Former Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund, player Hayko Hörlich, is manager of the "pharmacists" and this is his second season at the club. The 46-year-old expert and former German national football team player on the Apothecary's bench  replaced Tayjfuna Korkuta, who left the club at the end of the championship 2016/17.

"When we talk to Hayko, we have seen that he is burning from a desire to prove himself in the strongest German championship. He wants to play soccer that will be nice to the eye, and in doing so will bring positive results. That's the main reason for the chance we provided, "said Bayer Leverkusen's sports director, Rudy Feller. "It's a fantastic opportunity to return to Bundesliga as a manager, and on top of that at the starting point of my career," Herrlich told the club's official website at his unveiling.

Hayko had spent four seasons in Bayer during his playing career - from 1989 to 1993 - and he is also 1997 Champions League winner with Borussia Dortmund. In his training career he had the most success in the Jahn from Regensburg, which he took from fourth in the second league in just two seasons. He also was manager of Bochum in October 2009 only to fail to finish the season as the club was relegated.Since then he wan manager mostly of yongsters of Borussia Dortmund and Germany U17 national team which he led to 3th position in World cup. We can say tha Bayer Leverkusen is his biggest challenge so far in his managerial carrer. Its because Bayer 04 are up there with the most successful German clubs of the past 20 years, have an excellent reputation in Europe and are regarded as an innovative club. At the beggining of his time in Bayer 04 he said that “it's a great feeling to be back and have the responsibility for an extremely talented and ambitious squad. We want to achieve the best next season and return to the Bundesliga top group.”

Last season Bayer Leverkusen finished on the 5th position in the German Bundesliga and lost in the semi-finals in DFB Pokal from Bayern Munich. Fans and the owners are happy with the work of Hayko Hörlich because he managed to take the team in top 5 and secure a place in Europa League this season. They are also satisfied with the way the team plays and the manager's transfer policy. This season they managed to sign an agreement with two young talents Paulinho from Brazil and Mitchel Weiser from Germany.

But this season did not start very well for the team that has two defeats in the first two rounds. However it is just the start of the season that is very long and there are many matches so it remains to see what will happen.

This season fans expect the team to reign in the top of the German football and are surely expecting to pass the group stage in the Europa league.
