European Aquatics Championships 2018 odds

The European Championships; a multi sports event is a new exciting addition to the European sporting calendar. The event will be held every four years, starting August 2018 and would see European sportsmen compete in various events in aquatics, athletics, golf, triathlon, gymnastics, and rowing. The aim of this event is to combine existing, separated championship for each of these sports into a multinational multi-sport event which will generate a greater audience for them. Aquatics, golf, triathlon, gymnastics and rowing events will be hosted in Glasgow, Scotland, while athletics event will be staged in Berlin, Germany.

The 2018 European Aquatics Championships will be part of the 2018 European Championships. It will take place in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Luss, Scotland lasting ten days from 3 August 2018 - 12 August 2018. The European Aquatics Championships will see over 1000 aquatic athletes from 48 European nations competing in 72 medal events, across four thrilling disciplines.

Athletes will compete in four disciplines which are swimming, diving, synchronized swimming and open water swimming. Taking a look at each discipline.

• Swimming: Swimming events will take place at Tollcross International Swimming Centre, Glasgow. There are four swimming styles, which are breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly and freestyle.; with distances ranging from 50m to 1,500m. There will also be medley events which will require athletes to use all swimming styles in one race. Athletes can also come together as a team of four in freestyle and medley relay events. Swimming events are based on speed; with the fastest time winning the race.

• Diving: Diving will be staged at Royal Commonwealth Pool, Edinburgh. Different events will see athletes competing individually, in pairs (synchronized diving) or as a team. Complex dives will be made either from platforms or springboards, with judges scoring athletes based on difficulty level and execution. The 1m and 3m springboard events for both men and women, as well as 10m platform events will have preliminaries before the final. On the other hand, all synchro and mixed events will be direct finals.

Synchronized Swimming: Scheduled to be staged at Scotstoun Sports Campus, Glasgow. Synchronized Swimming; also water ballet will see athletes performing artistic routines to music inside a swimming pool. There will be four subdisciplines under synchronized swimming which are solo; involving one athlete, duet; two athletes, team; four to eight athletes and free combination; six to ten athletes. Judges score the athletes based on their difficulty, artistry, and execution.

• Open Water Swimming: Open Water Swimming will take place at Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. There will events in 5000, 10,000 and 25,000 open water course, in both male and female events. There would also be a 5000-course team event.

Scottish swimmer Ross Murdoch is one of the official ambassadors of the championships, with the event gathering major highlights across Europe. Even as tickets are on sale, the potential television audience has been estimated to reach 1.03 billion. The success of this year's championships is expected to set the tone for subsequent ones.
