Eurovision 2018 Armenia Odds

Four years after the fourth place of Aram Mp3 , it is time for Armenia to return to focus on a soloist man. For the first time in its history in Eurovision, Armenia will offer a title 100% in original language, in Armenian. It will be the first song to be performed entirely in Armenian since Inga & Anush took “Jan Jan” to Moscow in 2009.

Depi Evratesil is the renewed national selection of the Caucasus country for Eurovision Song Contest 2018 . Sevak Khanagyan  , with "Qami", proved to be the winner and therefore deserves to get the ticket with destination Lisbon after receiving the  highest score  , twelve points, both from the jury of professionals and the public . In second place was ranked Amaliya Margaryan “Nemra”, while one of the big favorites on the eve or the chameleonic Kamil Show with the song "Puerto Rico" had to settle for fourth place.

Khanagyan was born in 1987.  His parents took him to Moscow when he was a child. He graduated from the vocal department of the State Classical Academy named after Maimonides. As the singer stated in an interview, his love for music was instilled by his father. Sevak Khanagyan previously participated in the Russian The Voice and Glavnaya Stsena  (The Main Stage) competitions. He also won the Ukrainian X-Factor competition. He became renowned in Armenia after those events. The fame gained in Eastern Europe allowed him to take part in The Voice of Armenia last year as a judge.

The Director of “Qami” (Wind) song is Artur Manukyan, the same man responsible for last year’s entry Fly With Me by Artsvik. The director of photography is Suren Tadevosyan. Stylist Aram Nikolyan and designer Vahagn Miqayelyan also added their magic touch. “When I first heard the song I realized that it’s necessary to display only Sevak’s state of mind in the clip. No superfluities are required so as not to distract the attention of the audience from the song. Considering today’s trends we have used light effects and interesting montage solutions in the clip. I hope the clip will help to convey Sevak’s state of mind and the meaning of the song to the Armenian and European audiences”, director Artur Manukyan said.

“This clip is my first cooperation with the Public TV and I have to note that the shooting of the clip was a success. A large professional team worked during the shooting in the face of director Artur Manukyan who clearly knows what to do to convey the feelings of the song and the singer to the audience through the image. I am very sincere both in the clip and on the stage. I hope the audience will like our job”, Sevak Khanagyan said.

Armenia made its debut at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 but have yet to finish in the top three. They have, however, came very close, finishing in fourth place on two occasions, firstly with Sirusho in 2008 and with Aram Mp3 in 2014.
