Eurovision 2018 betting odds Greece

Yianna Terzi will be performing the Oniro Mou at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. The song is sung in Greek and the English translation of the title is "My Dream." It was written by Yianna herself with the help of Aris Kalimeris, Dimitris Stamatiou, and Mihalis Papathanasiou.

ERT had originally planned to host a national final on 22 February. The other artists due to perform were Areti Ketime and Chorostalites. However, it is understood that the record companies for these two artists failed to provide the requested letter of guarantee to ERT to cover Eurovision costs, leaving Gianna Terzi as the sole remaining eligible candidate to represent Greece in Eurovision.

The song’s official lyric video, unveiled by Yianna’s record label Panik Entertainment Group, has been peeking the YouTube trends in Greece every day since 16 February. It feels very exciting to her and the whole Greek delegation receiving such a quick response with high number of views and quite positive comments from press and people from all over the world. According to a short interview that Yianna gave last week, this was not expected so soon.

A mid-tempo ballad with ethnic Greek elements and a polyphonic chorus, “Óneiró mou” combines both a traditional orchestral sound with modern production. Yianna co-wrote the lyrics and music of the song with Aris Kalimeris, who notably was the lyricist of Moldova’s 2009 Eurovision entry “Hora din Moldova” by Nelly Ciobanu.

The most important fact that she confirmed about her upcoming performance is that she will be accompanied by 4 female vocalists, due to her song’s demanding vocals, especially in the chorus. When it comes to a potential sixth presence on stage (as is the maximum allowable limit according to the EBU regulations), she didn’t rule out the appearance of Dimitris Vlahos, the model and actor who is her co-star on the video clip which premiered on 8 March. Yianna remarkably added that he wasn’t randomly selected for embodying this role.

Regarding her own looks, the Eurovision hopeful stated that her hair will have their natural curly style and her dress (about which she didn’t reveal more information) will play an important role in stage design and her overall stage performance.

Yianna talked about her entry: “The song is about love. It could easily be received as a romantic dialogue. Deep emotions expresses between two parts (any kind of parts) is the meaning of the song. I want my music in general to be bigger than life.”

Gianna Terzi was born in 1980 and began performing professionally in 2005. After releasing several successful albums she relocated to the United States. She cites her musical influences as including Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Eurovision winner Celine Dion. She is best known for her singles “Tetoia Gynaika” (“Such a woman”) and “Pou kai Pou” (“Now and then”). She has two albums under her belt, under the name Gianna Terzi. Five years ago she relocated from Greece to the United States in order to develop her music career. She released her first English-language single “Love Is Your Name” under the name Yianna in 2012, which started bubbling in the underground clubs of New York City.
