Biathlon at the 2018 Winter Olympics and women's sprint

As far as demanding and high intensity skiing goes, sprint really is in a league of its own. The skiers begin in interval with a certain delay and needs to ski a total of 7,5 kilometers divided into three laps. At each course, the contesting women gets a chance at two shots. First in a standing position and then in a prone position. If they miss, they need to do a lap that equals 150 meters. So the ability to hit the target becomes the same as getting a chance to win biathlon during the Winter Olympics.

During the Winter Olympics at Pyeongchang, South Korea at the Alpensia Biathlon Centre, the pressure is great and the exceptions are likewise great. At an arena that has been restructured, nobody really knows what to expect. Since there's a total of 115 ladies competing, there's a lot to look forward to. The competition is fierce. Every shooter uses a long rifle at 22 calibers and the rules regarding the rifles are very strict. The reason being that nobody is to get an unfair advantage. The rifle must weigh at least 3,5 kilograms and have a trigger resistance no less than 0,5 kilogram.

Sprint is usually one of the most popular disciplines when it comes to biathlon. The reason being that the competition is usually very intense. And since sprint occurs early during the Winter Olympics, nobody is really sure how things will unfold. So keeping a close eye of things is very important for the understanding of the games. If you like to speculate, you need to observe sprint.
