Three Heavyweight Bets to Place in Boxing

The schedule in the final months of 2020 in boxing is mouth-watering, especially in the heavyweight division where Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Joseph Parker are all in action. We’ve taken a look through those bouts and come up with what we believe are three greats bets on the action.

Dubois To Stop Joyce (1/4)

Daniel Dubois is arguably the most exciting young heavyweight boxer on the planet right now and it won’t be long before Dynamite is challenging for a world title. Those at the top of the tree in the division will be fully aware of how powerful he is and won’t fancy facing him any time soon. Dubois’s latest fight comes against Joe Joyce in what is an exciting domestic contest. In the Dubois vs Joyce odds from Paddy Power, Dynamite is the 11/4 favourite. The best way of backing Dubois is in the method of victory market where he is 9/25 by decision.

14 of Dubois’ 15 wins so far in his professional career have come inside the 12 rounds. Joyce is a step up in class for him, but it is hard to see for the former Commonwealth gold medallist not being able to stop the onslaught which is set to come his way.

Fa To Beat Parker (10/3)

One fight which may have gone under the radar a little in the UK and USA is Joseph Parker’s return to New Zealand where he is set to meet Junior Fa. This is a fascinating fight as the two men know each other very well. They fought each other four times as amateurs.

Parker has gone on to have a fantastic professional career, one which Fa is likely to be envious of. His victory over Andy Ruiz Jr for the WBO title being the highlight so far. This is the chance for the latter to prove he is also capable of mixing it at the highest level in the pro ranks. Fa beat Parker twice as an amateur including in the Oceania Boxing Championship ahead of the 2012 Summer Olympics. This was a huge win as it meant he denied Parker the chance to feature at the games in London.

Given the history of these two men, Fa is a huge value in the betting at 10/3 to win this fight. There is clearly extraordinarily little between these two boxers so take the underdog to cause an upset.

Joshua To Defeat Pulev On Points (16/5)

Joshua was meant to face Kubrat Pulev in June 2019; however, the Bulgarian was forced to pull out of that fight. Ruiz Jr stepped in as Pulev’s substitute and inflicted the first defeat on the British boxer’s career.

Pulev is finally going to get his chance next month to make a name for himself as Ruiz Jr did. Joshua has learnt so much since that loss to the American in New York. As we saw is his rematch where he regained his world title, he was far more patient and boxed smartly, using his reach advantage.

Expect to see Joshua use similar tactics against Pulev. AJ will know another defeat will not only hurt his legacy but could prevent him from meeting Fury in a unification content in 2021. With this in mind, take Joshua to win this contest on points at 16/5.

Good luck with your punts and enjoy all the action in the ring in what is going to be an unmissable climax to the year.
