The Champions Tour will host the 14th Insperity Invitational during the first week of May. The defending champion Jesper Parnevik will be heading back to The Woodlands Country Club in Texas to fight off his competition once again. He will return to a tournament which promises one of the strongest player fields on the PGA TOUR Champions. Among other, there are also five World Golf Hall of Fame Members: Tom Kite, Sandy Lyle, Colin Montgomerie, Larry Nelson and Mark O’Meara. Some of the other more memorable names are John Daly, Fred Funk and Tom Lehman.

Last year Parnevik carded three rounds in the 60s with a total score of 12 under par (69, 68, 67). Both David Frost and Jeff Maggert who were T2 will be attending the event - although Mike Goodes who was also in second place last year will probably not be attending. Up until last year Parnevik has not won a tour event for 15 years, he was injured for over a decade and was not able to perform at his best level. This year he will be returning to Texas hungry for another win.

But the Insperity Invitational will not only be a feast to watch, it also has a social side. Interfaith of the Woodlands is a local charity that has been named the 2016 PGA TOUR Champions Charity of the Year - it is directly benefitting from the tour event. Interfaith and Insperity Invitational have an ongoing partnership since 2005, yet in 2016 alone the tournament has produced a donation of over $750,000.

The tournament itself features seven event days, May 1st to May 7th. The first four days are reserved for practice rounds and Pro-Ams. Day two has also a Junior Pro-Am and a clinic where the youngest hopes of the game will have a chance to mingle with the best of the best. On Thursday the Insperity Invitational will also host a Breakfast with Champions, featuring World Golf Hall of Fame member Hale Irwin, Masters Champion Fuzzy Zoeller and 32-time PGA Tour/PGA TOUR Champions winner Don January.

The first round of the Insperity Invitational will kick off on Friday at 10.30am. 78 of the best PGA TOUR Champions Professionals will be competing for a total of $2,15 million and the winner will take home just over $300,000. Same as last year, we can expect to see some of the finest golf played on this planet. Spectators can hope for an amazing tournament where golfing legends will battle to the end.
