Time for Scottie Scheffler to Win Another Major?

Over the past year or so, Scottie Scheffler has announced himself on the PGA Tour with some impressive tournament wins. After capturing the Masters Tournament in 2022, it is only a matter of time until we see the New Jersey-born ace winning another major on the PGA Tour.

Can Scheffler Shine in New York?

The next major tournament on the PGA Tour is the upcoming PGA Championship from Oak Hill Country Club in New York. Naturally, in-form Scheffler is among the favourites in the US PGA betting. The 26-year-old is available at golf odds of just 8/1 to win the crown in Pittsford. Jon Rahm, who recently won the Masters Tournament, is the favourite at 7/1.

Scheffler is looking for a strong PGA Championship performance, especially after losing his Masters crown to Rahm in the last major. It will be a strong field in New York, but Scheffler is more than capable of winning the competition.

Memorable Masters Success

After getting a few tournament wins under his belt, Scheffler went into the 2022 Masters full of confidence. He went on to claim his first major with a three-stroke victory over Northern Ireland star Rory McIlroy.

Scheffler led by a record-tying five strokes after two rounds at the famous Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. He managed to hold the lead until the end, fending off the likes of McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Cameron Smith, and Collin Morikawa.

The Augusta triumph capped off a stunning couple of months for Scheffler. He won his first PGA Tour event in February 2022, beating Patrick Cantlay in a playoff in the WM Phoenix Open. The following month, he edged out Tyrrell Hatton, Billy Horschel, and Viktor Hovland by one stroke each to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

He then won the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play in Austin shortly after. It was a special win, as Scheffler moved to Texas early in his life and has lived there ever since. He beat veteran Kevin Kisner by four and three to lift the trophy in front of his home fans.

2023 has also been a fine year for Scheffler. He managed to retain the WM Phoenix Open title in February with a 2-stroke victory over Canadian Nick Taylor. Scheffler then beat Hatton by a full five strokes to win The Players Championship in March. With The Players being regarded as the fifth major on the PGA Tour, finishing top of the leaderboard in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida was no mean feat.

He also reached the semi-finals of the 2023 WGC Dell Technologies Match Play event in Austin in March. Unfortunately, he was unable to retain the title after losing to Sam Burns in the semi-finals.

Having only turned professional in 2018, the 26-year-old has a bright future ahead of him. A whole year has passed since his Masters victory, but Scheffler has been tipped for plenty of success in his career, and it is only a matter of time until we see him lift another major trophy on the PGA Tour.
