Clásica de Almería 2020

The 33rd edition of the Clásica de Almería will be held on the 16th of February 2020 on a 192.5 kilometer route that begins in the city of Almería and ends in the municipality of Roquetas de Mar. It will be one of the first classics that will be competed in the season in European territory. Its route is completely flat, except for some small mountain difficulty in the middle of the classic.

The race is part of the UCI ProSeries 2020, the second division of the world cycling calendar, within the UCI 1.Pro category. Last year it was in category 1.HC but for this edition, it has been promoted to the new Proseries.

It is a race that in recent years was not won by national cyclists, the last Spanish victory was from Fran Perez 14 years ago.

During the race they will have to overcome four mountain passes. The last will be the Alto de Turrillas, the hardest of all, second category and 780 meters altitude. But it will not be decisive since it is 100 kilometers from the finish line so it would be very difficult for the bunch to not neutralize any attack from the cyclists.

Top Competitors in Clásica de Almería 2020

We want to highlight 2 cyclists among the others in the bunch that we think they have more chances to achieve the victory:

Pascal Ackermann is one of the big favorites. He will defend the title since last year won the final sprint to Marcel Kittel. Will he be able to repeat victory? That has been something that only the Italian Massimo Strazzer achieved in 1997 and 2002.

Alexander Kristoff is always in our bets for the final stage victory in classics like this one. And surely he will have many possibilities to win the course.

There are other cyclists like Oliver Naesen or Thomas Boudat who will also be fighting for winning the final sprint in Roquetas de Mar.
