Grand Prix de Wallonie 2021

The 2021 Grand Prix de Wallonie is an annual bicycle race scheduled to take place August 26, 2021 in Wallonia, Belgium. The race will be the 61th edition of the Grand Prix de Wallonie. Since 2005, the race has been organised as a 1.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour and has been part of the UCI ProSeries since 2020, the second level of international cycling.

It was created in1935 and generally contested in the Walloon region and has a profile similar to the Ardennes classics in Wallonia. The start and finish in 2003 were moved to Chaudfontaine and Jambes . The finish line returns to the citadel of Namur the following year.

The route distance is typically near 200k and the race starts its travel from Blegny. The total competition runs through the ultimate challenge and finishes in Citadelle de Namur. It also serves as an ideal preparation for the road world championships in Yorkshire. The final, including the ascent to the citadel of Namur where the finish is located, makes it a race suitable for puncheurs.

The 2020 edition was canceled, in particular because competition from the Tour de France 2020 postponed to the same period due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
