Faun-Ardèche Classic 2020

Better known as Classic Sud Ardèche, Faun-Ardèche Classic is a French one-day cycling competition that takes place mainly in the south-east of France in the department of Ardèche.

The race was an amateur race from its creation in 2001 to 2007, before being part of the UCI Europe Tour in 2008 as a category 1.2 race, the last category of professionalism, and then in 2010 to category 1.1 category. In 2020 will be part of the new 1.Pro category of the UCI Europe Tour calendar.

In previous years, cyclists such as Jean Christophe Peraud, Christophe Riblon, Romain Bardet or Lilian Calmejane have achieved victory at the finish line at Guilherand Grandes.

Overview of Faun-Ardèche Classic 2020

The course of the race will be similar to those of previous years where cyclists will have to face the climb of hills with slopes up to 6% and 8 kilometers in length in a 3-lap circuit, which will end with the climb to Coteaux du Cornas, a 5.8km hill at 5.6%, and the final leg breaker, the Cote du Val d'Enfer, just 7 kilometers to the finish line. A hill of 1.6 km at 10% will make the final selection of a bunch that will have very tired legs.

In the final kilometers attacks are expected from cyclists with more strength in the final moments of the race.

It is a classic that, as in the Royal Bernard Drome, has always been the goal of French cyclists, where they have been the most successful. That is why the French teams make the strongest teams to achieve victory.

Top Competitors

The bunch of cyclists competing in the Faun-Ardèche Classic 2020 is very similar to the Royal Bernard Drome Classic. Therefore we will enjoy a fight between Lilian Calmejane, winner of the last edition, and Julien Simon, both cyclists of Team Total Direct Energy, Warren Barguil from Team Arkea, Frenchman Valentin Madouas, second classified in the last edition, or Romain Bardet, AG2R cyclist who will feel comfortable in this circuit.

They are all French cyclists, but if we look for quality outside France, we will certainly find it in the Italian veteran Vincenzo Nibali, which will harden the victory of the race. Many favorites but only one of them will cross the finish line in the first place.
