Route Adélie 2021

The 2021 Route Adélie de Vitré is a one-day bicycle road race scheduled to take place on 2 April 2021 in France. The race will be the 25th edition of the 2021 Route Adélie. The competition usually runs as a 1.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour through a challenging route plan.

This race was founded in 1996 to replace the Tour d'Armorique. It is coordinated by the Cycling Animation Committee of the Pays de Vitré and funded by the City of Vitré and the Les Mousquetaires group, the region's biggest employer, through its affiliate, manufacturer of “Les Délices du Valplessis” ice cream selling its products under the brand "Adélie", hence the name. It is often referred to as a classic race and is held annually at a circuit near Vitré, France, almost in April. The race had been arranged as a 1.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour since 2005. By the decision of its organizing committee, the Route Adélie de Vitré withdrew from the French Cycling Cup in 2008 before returning in 2012.

The route is designed with one stage and approximately 200 km race distance including a demanding challenge in the competition. In general, the race begins at Vitré and finishes with the enthusiasm of the riders to win the race at Vitré. To make the racing rivalry more difficult for the cyclist, the course layout adds flat and climbing trails. For important and prestigious race competitions such as the Tour de France, the event is often seen as a significant preparation race for many professional riders.

In 2020, the competition was set to take place in April but the edition was canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
