Odd unit: EU | UK | US

Who is Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær?

Ole Gunnar Solskjær is the current Manchester United manager after being appointed in December 2018 taking over from the previous manager Jose Mourinho. Solskjær was born in Kristiansund, Norway on 26 February 1973 and is 46 years of age. Solskjær originally played football for clubs such as Clausenengen, Molde and Manchester United.

Solskjær broke into the first team at Clausenengen in 1990, he made 109 competitive appearances for the club scoring 115 goals before moving to Molde in 1994. He had an impressive spell at Molde where he made 42 competitive appearances scoring 31 goals over 2 seasons. In 1996, Manchester United bought Ole Gunnar Solskjær for £1.5m where he stayed at the club for 11 years scoring 91 goals over 235 appearances. He’s a fan favourite at Manchester United and they’ll give him time to get the squad right next season.

Manchester United retained the services of Ole Gunnar Solskjær after he retired in 2007 as he was appointed as manager of the reserves team the following year. He stayed in the role for 3 years before taking a job at Norwegian club Molde in 2011. Whilst at Molde, Solskjær won the Norwegian top flight in 2011 and 2012 along with the Norwegian Football Cup in 2013.

In January 2014, Ole Gunnar Solskjær was appointed as manager of newly promoted Premier League side Cardiff City. However, an uninspiring season saw the club finish 20th and therefore relegated back to the Championship. Solskjær left the club after they were relegated and decided to return back to Molde in October 2015. In his second spell at Molde, Solskjær failed to win a major trophy before being scouted by Manchester United 3 years later.

In December 2018, Manchester United sacked Jose Mourinho and replaced him with caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær. After many impressive results, Manchester United appointed Solskjær as their new full time manager in March 2019. However, after he had signed the contract, results went downhill and many Manchester United fans want Solskjær sacked just 6 months later. Next season, Ole Gunnar Solskjær will have to do big things if he is to keep the Manchester United job. They’re going in the right direction however after bringing in Aaron Wan Bissaka and Dan James from Crystal Palace and Swansea City respectively for a combined fee of £70m.
