Who will be the 2019-20 National League top goal scorer?

After last season’s National League campaign saw Leyton Orient and Salford City promoted to the EFL League Two. The top goal scorer in the league was Eastleigh’s Paul McCallum and Fylde’s Danny Rowe each getting 27 goals each, we look ahead to next season to see who will end up topping the goal scoring charts come May 2020.

Paul McCallum has made the move to Solihull Moors from Eastleigh and will want to continue his goal scoring record at his new club. He’ll be a definite favourite going into next season after his 27 goal campaign last year. The 26 year old comes from Streatham, England and is a tall striker at 6’3”, he’ll definitely be one to watch next season in the league. Fylde’s Danny Rowe finished last season as joint top scorer with Eastleigh striker Paul McCallum. Rowe also scored 27 goals as he helped the club to a 5th place finish, but will want to build on this next season. Rowe was born in Blackpool, England and is right in his prime at 29 years old.

Both Notts County and Yeovil Town were relegated from the EFL League Two in their respective 2019-20 campaigns. Notts County’s top scorer was Kane Hemmings scoring an impressive 14 league goals in a relegated side. Hemmings is 27 years of age and hails from Burton upon Trent, England. If Notts County are to push for promotion next season, they’ll need Hemmings to be in top form.

Yeovil Town’s top scorer was Alex Fisher, however, he’s made the move to Exeter City. Without their leading talisman, the club may struggle to bounce back into the EFL League Two next season. Chesterfield signed Scott Boden in January last season from Gateshead where he scored 21 goals across the season for both clubs and guided Chesterfield to a 14th placed finish. Boden is from Sheffield, England and is 29 years of age. He’ll be instrumental for the club if they are to do well next season.

Other players that could end up on top next season are Bromley’s new acquisition Michael Cheek, Harrogate Town’s Jack Muldoon and Wrexham’s JJ Hooper all of which scored over 13 goals last season. Each of these strikers will want to impress next season if they are to finish the season as the league’s top goal scorer and guide their respective clubs to promotion.
