Who is Stevenage FC manager Dino Maamria?

Dino Maamria is the current Stevenage FC manager after being appointed in March 2018. Maamria was born on 26 May 1971 in Gafsa, Tunisia and is 48 years of age. Maamria previously played football for English clubs such as Stevenage, Burnley, Southport and Doncaster Rovers mainly as a striker but also played on the wing.

Maamria came through the youth academy of AS Marsa where he won the Tunisian President Cup in 1994. He described the moment as the “proudest moment of his career” due to the fact that the stadium was full and the match was played in front of the Tunisian President. During his career, Dino Maamria played for Tunisian side AS Marsa, CO Transports, Burnley, Glentoran, Doncaster Rovers, Southport, Leigh RMI, Stevenage Borough, Charleston Battery, Rushden & Diamonds, Stevenage and Northwich Victoria over a 20 year playing career where he made 303 competitive appearances scoring 92 goals.

He made a single appearance for the Tunisian u21’s National team but failed to make the first team. While at Doncaster Rovers, Maamria was the club’s top goal scorer by the end of the 1999-2000 season before being transfer listed by the club. He attracted interest from Cardiff City but failed to make the move. Maamria’s career was stunted due to the fact that he broke his leg whilst at Burnley and failed to make a competitive appearance for the club even though he impressed during his trial.

In 2007, Maamria took a managerial job at Northwich Victoria which only lasted for a season where he was named Conference Premier manager of the year. He took numerous coaching jobs at different clubs before being appointed as manager of Southport in November 2015. He won the Manager of the month award for December 2015 before leaving the club in March 2016 due to family reasons.

After leaving his coaching role at Newport County, Maamria was appointed manager of Nuneaton Town in October 2017. Maamria took the club within 5 points of promotion before leaving the club in March 2018. On the 20th of March 2018, Stevenage FC appointed Dino Maamria as their manager. In his first season at the club, Maamria took the club to a 10th place finish as they consolidated their EFL League Two status. This season, the fans will be hoping Maamria will be able to take the club to the next level by pushing for promotion.
