Who is Stevenage's manager?

Steve Evans is the newly appointed Stevenage FC manager. Evans was born on 30 October 1962 in Glasgow, Scotland and was previously a footballer playing for Scottish sides such as Clyde, Ayr United and St Johnstone as a striker after previously being in Bolton Wanderers’ academy.

From 1979 to 1986, Steve Evans played for many different club sides including Clyde, Albion Rovers, Ayr United, Hamilton Academical and St Johnstone making 168 competitive appearances in total and scoring 42 goals. After retiring, Steve Evans started his managerial career at Stamford in 1994 and lasted 4 years at the club and won the United Counties Football League Premier Division title and lead the side to promotion to the Southern Football League before resigning in 1998. He then moved on to Boston United but resigned in 2002 due to complications off the field with the Football Association. However, he returned to Boston United in 2004 to manage the club once again until 2007 where the club were relegated to non league football where he and his assistant both resigned.

2 days after resigning from the Boston United job, Crawley Town announced the appointment of Steve Evans as their new head coach. In his time at Crawley Town, he won the Conference Premier title in the 2010-11 season and the October Manager of the Month award before leaving the job. In April 2012, Steve Evans joined Rotherham United on a three year contract where he had an extremely successful spell taking the club from League Two to the Championship within two seasons. In his first season, he also managed to keep the side in the division before deciding he wanted a new challenge by joining Leeds United in October 2015.

Steve Evans joined Leeds when they were 1 point off relegation and somehow managed to take the club all the way up to 13th place. However, Evans was sacked in May 2016 due to differences with the owner despite having a very strong season. Evans then moved on to League Two side Mansfield Town and then League One side Peterborough United in the space of only two years.

Evans was appointed as manager of Stevenage on 16 March 2022.
