NIFL 20/21 Prediction

Due to the unfortunate and unforeseen of COVID-19 this year, the start of the NIFL 20/21 campaign may have to be delayed but that doesn’t mean we can’t predict how the new season will pan out. Let’s get into it.

Firstly, Title winners; I think Linsfield will win the title again this year. They have strengthened their squad very well and added depth in positions as well. In the transfer window so far, they have added Navid Nasseri to their squad and he is their marquee signing. The Englishman, having previously played for Glentoran makes the switch across Belfast to Linsfield. They have also signed three other players; Conor Pepper, a midfielder also formerly of Glentoran, who will bolster their midfield, Chris Johns, a former Southampton keeper who was previously announced on a pre-contract and finally Christy Manzinga, a Democratic Republic of Congo international forward who makes the switch from Motherwell. This has opened up the gap between them and Coleraine even further while also weakening Glentoran. While Coleraine have made the transfer of Curtis Allen permanent, I don’t feel it’s enough to overtake Linsfield and I think that the depth and quality of Linsfield will help them over the line and they will become champions.

Relegation; Unfortunately, but I think that Warrenpoint Town will go down this year due to the fact that they were very lucky to stay up this year, only surviving by a mere three points before the season was cancelled while also having the worst defence in the league. There also hasn’t been any signs of transfer activity and therefore I have tipped them to go down.

And last but not least; The Golden Boot. For the last 2 years Joe Gormley has been top scorer with 18 goals this season and 20 goals the season before. He’s also done it without any penalty goals which is highly impressive. I predict that he will finish top scorer with 21 goals next season.

And there you have it, my prediction for 20/21 NIFL season on who will be crowned champions, who will get relegated and who will be the top scorer.
