ESL One New York 2017 Preview

The organization ESL announced a list of teams in North America and Europe, which received a direct invitation to closed qualifications for the ESL One New York.  A total of eight teams are set to compete in New York, six of which received an invitation from the organizers of the tournament. The last slot from both regions was determined by the open qualifications at ESEA.

Open qualifications were held from 14th to 15th August, while closed qualifiers from 19th to 20th. The matches were held in the best-of-three format.

Of the 16 teams, only two teams made it to the tournament where they will face off six other teams which received a direct invitation to the tournament. They will head to New York to compete for the prize pool of $ 250,000.

The Road to New York

The qualifying stage left the CIS-Team, Gambit in shock. However, Cloud9 showed a good game after making significant changes its roster after a long time.

European Salvation

The final stage of qualifying matches at the ESL One New York 2017 for Europe and America, had some amazing action. In the former, the French-Belgian Team EnVyUs beat HellRaisers and G2. In the final of the European qualification, Team EnVyUs shot PGL Major Krakow champions, Gambit Esports 2-0 (16-9 Nuke, 16-5 Train) to secure their ticket to New York. They will surely be a force to be reckoned with in coming September.

Rejuvenated Cloud 9?

In the American qualifications, Cloud9 emerged victorious. They set the heat on teams that had not been on major LAN tournaments for a long time: L4Org and complexity. In the final of the North American qualifiers, Cloud9 beat Rise Nation 2-1 (16-3 Cobblestone, 9-16 Mirage, 16-2 Inferno).

Despite the weak competition, C9 showed a good confidence. They reinforced their fan’s faith after recent changes: n0thing and shroud gave way to RUSH, tarik, and Pierce. However, for unknown reasons, Braxton "swag" Pierce replaced Timothy "autimatic" Ta through the entire qualifiers.

So, after the end of the qualifying action, we now have the complete list of teams competing in New York which are:
