The UEFA European Championship football tournament in Germany is fast approaching, and the England squad is expected to be announced on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

Here is a closer look at the players Gareth Southgate will most likely take with him to the world's second-biggest men's professional football competition after the FIFA World Cup.

Which England players will most likely make the cut?

The players who will most likely make the cut are the ones who are currently in fine form on the pitch, in peak physical fitness, and have zero injury issues.

Although it's still speculation until the official England Euro 2024 squad is announced, here's who we think have earned themselves a place in the squad.

We can start by revealing the names of seven players who will undoubtedly be selected and then look at several other players who will also make the cut based on the latest squad prediction possibilities from various reputable sources, Euro betting tips, odds, and implied probability rates:

  1. Player: Jude Bellingham. Position: Forward. Odds: 1/100 (fractional), 1.01 (decimal). American/moneyline odds: -10,000. IPR (implied probability rate): 99.00%
  2. Player: Harry Kane. Position: Forward. Odds: 1/100 (fractional), 1.01 (decimal). American/moneyline odds: -10,000. IPR: 99.00%
  3. Player: Cole Palmer. Position: Forward. Odds: 1/100 (fractional), 1.01 (decimal). American/moneyline odds: -10,000. IPR: 99.00%
  4. Player: Declan Rice. Position: Forward. Odds: 1/100 (fractional), 1.01 (decimal). American/moneyline odds: -10,000. IPR: 99.00%
  5. Player: Phil Foden. Position: Forward. Odds: 1/100 (fractional), 1.01 (decimal). American/moneyline odds: -10,000. IPR: 99.00%
  6. Player: Kyle Walker. Position: Forward. Odds: 1/100 (fractional), 1.01 (decimal). American/moneyline odds: -10,000. IPR: 99.00%
  7. Player: Jordan Pickford. Position: Forward. Odds: 1/100 (fractional), 1.01 (decimal). American/moneyline odds: -10,000. IPR: 99.00%

In other words, these seven players are basically guaranteed a place in the squad. Others with a high probability rate (so almost guaranteed a spot) are Harry Maguire (defender), Marcus Rashford (forward), Trent Alexander-Arnold (defender), and Bukayo Saka (forward), which gives us 11 players.

How many players are allowed in a Euro 2024 squad?

Traditionally, only 23 players can be included in a UEFA European Championship football squad. However, each team was recently given a huge boost when UEFA announced that each squad could now have up to 26 players, meaning three more players can now be taken to Germany.

Here are some of the names of England players who could possibly be selected based on the latest 2024 Euro odds from today's most reputable online bookmakers.

Before the increase to 26 players, the four other players that Gareth Southgate would have most likely picked are midfielder Jordan Henderson (at around 3/5 with a 62.50% IPR), defender Jarrad Branthwaite (at around 4/6 with a 60% implied probability rate), defender Joe Gomez (at around 4/5 with a 55.60% IPR), and forward Ivan Toney (at around 9/10 with a 52.60% IPR), which leaves just two players.

Which two additional players will Gareth Southgate include in the squad?

The recent rule change that allows each manager to take 26 players instead of 23 is a huge boost but may also present a dilemma in the selection process. However, based on their current form, defender Marc Guehi is one of the players who could also now make the cut.

He's currently priced at around 9/10 (52.60% IPR), meaning he or Ivan Toney could get the call-up as they are evenly priced. The other player who could be included in the 26-man squad is defender Levi Colwill (at around 5/4 with a 44.40% IPR).

Other top players who could easily upset these odds and be selected are Ezri Konza (defender), Kieran Trippier (defender), Conor Gallagher (midfielder), Callum Wilson (forward), and Eberechi Eze (midfielder).

England manager Gareth Southgate was also recently spotted in the crowd when Crystal Palace beat Manchester United 4-0 in the Premier League at Selhurst Park, which led to speculation that James Wharton could get a surprise call-up.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been in excellent form lately and could very well be a part of Southgate's plans. We will just have to wait and see. The tournament's opening game between host nation Germany and Scotland will be at the Allianz Arena on June 14.
