Americas Minor Championship 2019

America is usually the butt of all CS jokes, but this year's America bracket looks pretty solid at first glance.

Kicking-off on the 22nd of this January, NRG seems to be the clear favorite, it was also considered to be nearly a shoo-in to qualify for the major at the Americas Minor for the FACEIT London Major. But they choked in a very breathtaking fashion falling short to eUnited and Complexity, missing out on the London Major at a time where they were considered to be a top-3 team in North America.

Despite NRG being the favorite (and rightfully so), there are for sure other teams that are capable of knocking them out.

So Little Time, So Many Brazilians

It has become a breeding ground for Counter-Strike: GO talent, ever since Fallen (the Godfather of Brazilian Counter-Strike) brought some light to the region.

Since then Brazil has been pumping out talent right, left, and center, with 4 out of 8 teams competing in the Americas Minor hailing from Brazil. INTZ and Furia will be the teams to look at, when taking a closer look at some of the Brazil's top teams.

Lined with great talent, INTZ players (like kNg, and Felps) has experience playing at the highest level, including playing in past Majors with both Immortals and SK Gaming respectively.

On the other hand, Furia with kscerato (who has been hailed as the next Coldzera), is more of an up-and-coming team. Although kscerato is not the first for whom the term has been used, and with only 17 maps played on lan, he hasn’t proven that he’s worthy of that title yet.

What Other American Squads Have a Chance?

Envy and eUnited are the other two American teams in the Minor, both underwent a change recently. Envy after moving on from their all-French squad, picked up an entirely new team. While eUnited dropped Dazzle, in favor of Swole Patrols Cooper.

eUnited, may have a chance of reaching the finals, but to outright win it’s a long shot. Envy, on the other hand, looked rather disappointing so far. Apart from a few wins against some Tier 2/3 teams, they have not quite meshed so far.

Will it be a Brazil vs. America Final?

NRG are expected to reach the finals with relative ease. So with one of the spots already a lock, let’s look at who can join NRG in the finals. INTZ stands the best chance, eUnited is the other team I see making a run to the finals.

Led by Canadian IGL, FNS, eUnited with wins over some premier teams in MiBR and Na’vi in the past few months, look like a team that can slightly edge out the competition.

Envy also stands an outside chance here, it really depends if they’re able to figure it out before the Minor and bring some new looks in game.
