Northern Ireland Open (snooker) 2020

If this may be called as Judd Trump Tournament so far, it is justified. He has done some amazing things in this tournament with his stick. The event has the age of only 4 years, having started in 2016; Judd Trump won this trophy two times in a row.  He has won last two tournaments in 2019 and 2018 consecutively, beating Ronnie O'Sullivan in both occasions in very close finals. Both the finalists of last years are currently seeded 1 & 2 and once again expected to be in the final of this year. A total of 18 ranking tittle winner, Judd Trump won English Open this year, beating Neil Robertson 9-8 in the final. He only lost to Kyren Wilson in the final of Champions league recently in October 2020. The streak of 10 consecutive rankings final wins came to an end from that lost. He will face Gerard Greene in the first round and expected to be come with full force.

A total of 128 best players of the world will participate in this year’s tournament battling for famous Alex Higgins Trophy. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s event will not be happening in the Belfest but Marshal Arena in Milton Keynes starting from 16th November 2020. All the matches until the quarter final stage will be played over the best of seven frames, Semifinal will be of best of 11 frames and final is of best of 17 frames, which will be played on Sunday 22nd November.

On the other hand Ronnie O'Sullivan will look to take revenge of last two years lost to the same person and will try his best to win the event. Despite having not at his best this year, six times World Champion and record seven times Masters Champion will definitely look to regain his best form. He will also be in action on the 1st day of the event against world no. 82 Jamie O’Neil.

Shaun Murphy, a 2005 World Champion and Ryan Day, a two time ranking event winner will face each other in the first round of the event. This is considered to be a center stage match of the first round of the event as both men have previous history of winning major tournaments of the game.

Other big names like World No. 3 Neil Robertson, 4th seeded Mark Selby, Mark Wilson and Mark Allen will look to make impact on this event and look to clinch the title from Judd Trump. All are former World Champions and top seeded players and look to compete with each other. Considering the performance of the top players around the world, the prediction on winner of the event seems an impossible task but definitely the game lovers will place a close eye on every match. A very intense event with lots of sports battles is coming for peoples around the world.
