Who wins Italian second division 2018/2019?

Serie B 2018/19

Serie B is the second highest division in the Italian football league after the Serie A. It is played by 22 teams and at the end of each season, three clubs are promoted to Serie A for the following season. The top two teams are automatically promoted and if the club finishing 3rd is 10 or more points ahead of the 4th placed team, it is automatically promoted too. Otherwise, playoff takes place to determine the third club that will get promoted. The promoted clubs are replaced by three relegated club of the Serie A. On the other hand, four clubs get relegated from the Serie B at the end of the season. These four are replaced in the following season by the four promoted clubs from the Serie C.

In the 2018/19 season of Serie B, Crotone, Hellas Verona, and Benevento will take part as they have been relegated from the Serie A of the 2017/18 season. Livorno, Padova, Lecce, Cosenza are the four teams that have been promoted to the Serie B from the Serie C in the last season.

The clubs that could win the Serie B in the 2018/19 or could earn them a promotion:

Palermo:
Palermo has been very good in the last season of Serie B as they finished 4th on the table with just one point behind Frosinone. But that was enough to earn a playoff spot. But they failed to capitalize the opportunity as they lost to Frosinone in the playoff final 3-2 on aggregate. They were denied a promotion to the Serie A last season but they will come back stronger in the upcoming season and could finally get the promotion that they desire.

Crotone:
Crotone finished 18th on the Serie A table last season which is why they will be playing in the Serie B in the 2018/19 season. They finished 10-points above Verona but that wasn’t enough to put them to safety as they finished 3-points behind 17th placed SPAL. Crotone survived relegation in the season before last. But in the last season, they lost to Napoli in the final day which ensured their relegation. But they are expected to bounce back again the in 2018/19 season to earn a promotion the Serie A.

Verona:
After being promoted to the Serie A, Verona only survived one season there and has been relegated to the Serie B again. But they could turn it around in the upcoming season and get the promotion again.

Venezia:
Venezia was promoted to the Serie B after the 2016/17 season, but their performance in the last season was outstanding. They finished 5th only 4-points behind Palermo. In the upcoming season, their fantastic run may continue as they could get promoted to Serie A.
