Who will win the 2019-20 Scottish League Two?

The 2019-20 Scottish League Two will be the 25th season of the competition. Last season saw Peterhead promoted to the Scottish League One for the 2019-20 season and saw Stenhousemuir and Brechin City relegated from the Scottish League One.

Stenhousemuir finished their 2018-19 Scottish League One campaign in 9th place on 37 points. Although they’ll be going into next season as strong favourites, they’ll have to try and keep hold of some of their star players if they are to make a push for the title next season. Stenhousemuir will be going into next season with manager Colin McMenamin and captain Graeme Smith with the hope of bouncing back into the Scottish League One by the end of the season.

Brechin City finished last in the 2018-19 Scottish League One on 36 points, after a disappointing season they’ll be hoping to turn things around once the next season gets underway. This is their second relegation in a row after finishing the 2017-18 season in last place with 0 wins to their name.

After Brechin City’s ex captain Paul McLean left the club after 10 years, manager Barry Smith will be looking for a new leader as the fans await the news of the new club captain. Brechin City will hope to win the title next season but it’ll be unlikely after the loss of such an influential player.

Edinburgh City finished last season in third place on 67 points in the Scottish League Two (7 points behind Clyde and 12 points behind winners Peterhead) under Scottish manager James McDonaugh. English Captain Josh Walker and the fans will all be hoping for promotion next season as they hope to build on a good 2018-19 campaign. Edinburgh City have enjoyed consistent mid table finishes since their promotion to the Scottish League Two in the 2015-16 season, but they’ll hope to go one further next year.

Annan Athletic will hope to build on last year’s fourth place finish under Irish manager Peter Murphy (who is the only non-Scottish manager in next year’s Scottish League Two.) Peter Murphy’s first job of the new season however, is to choose a captain for the new campaign who will guide the club to the title in the 2019-20 season. After the loss of last year’s captain Scott Hooper to Peterhead on a free transfer, the club will be desperate to replace the influential right back.
