English Open 2020

World Snooker Tour announced that English Open will be played from 12th to 18th October 2020 at K-2 Leisure Center Crawley. 2019/20 season suffers heavily due to the COVID-19 pandemic as most of the event of last year has been abandoned. Top players from all over the world will look after to win this tournament to gain upper hand in coming events. The winner of the tournament will be awarded Davis Trophy, which is named in honor of the former World Champion Steve Davis.

7th seeded Mark Selby, three times former World Champion will defend the title, which he wins by beating David Gilbert (9-1) in probably one sided match last year on the same venue but he has to come up with top class performance to defend the title as he was recently been beaten by 6th seeded Ronnie O’Sullivan in the World Championship semifinal in August 2020. On the other hand Ronnie O’Sullivan looks in great form as he claims his sixth World Championship title just recently by thrashing Kyren Wilson 18-8 in the final. A prolific break-builder, O'Sullivan is the only player to have achieved 1,000 career century breaks a milestone he reached in frame 14 of the 2019 Players Championship final in this frame he won the title defeating Neil Robertson 10–4.  O'Sullivan has often been a controversial figure in the sport. Noted for his unpredictable temperament and outspoken views, he is but a great competitor of the game in his own ways.

The 2019-20 seasons World Championship winner, the World No. 1; Judd Trump won the most ranking tournaments, total of six in 2019-20, which is a record for a season itself. He became the World Championship winner in 2019-20 by defeating Higgins 18–9 in the finals. Underachiever in many eyes but certainly has the potential to do the remarkable when required.  The other players, Neil Robertson, Mark Selby, and Shaun Murphy, all won more than one ranking tournament last season. Also, two players won their first ranking tournament, Yan Bingtao winning the Riga Masters, and Michael Holt winning the snooker shoot out last season. In the first two Triple Crown events: Ding Junhui won the UK Championship for the third time, his first for ten years, defeating Stephen Maguire in the final; and Stuart Bingham won the Masters for the first time, defeating Ali Carter in the final. The third Triple Crown event, the World Snooker Championship, originally scheduled for 18 April to 4 May 2020, took place between 31 July and 16 August 2020. Ronnie O'Sullivan won the title for a sixth time, defeating Kyren Wilson in the final.

Seeking the form and performance of top players around the world in view, the prediction on winner of the upcoming English Open seems an impossible task but once the tournament is in full swing it would be a lot of fun to watch the intense games and predict the winner.
