Who is Kalmar FF manager Nanne Bergstrand?

Kurt Arne Nanne René Bergstrand was born in Markaryd, Sweden on the 28th of April, 1956 and is the current manager of Kalmar FF. Bergstrand previously played football as an attacker for Swedish clubs such as Kalmar FF, Halmstads BK and Markaryds IF, along with a short trial at English club Manchester City.

Bergstrand came through the youth academy of his childhood club: Markaryds IF. He had a trial at English side Manchester City, however, he was unable to sign for the club due to issues with getting a work permit as he had not received an international cap for his national team. Nanne Bergstrand played for Halmstads BK and Kalmar FF before retiring from football in 1988.

After retiring from football, Bergstrand took charge of Traryds IF, Markaryds IF, Växjö Norra IF, Östers IF, IK Oddevold and Kalmar FF before joining Helsingborgs IF in 2000. During his time at Helsingborgs IF, the club qualified for the UEFA Champions League group stage after beating Italian side Inter Milan 1-0 on aggregate in the final qualifying round.

In 2002, Bergstrand rejoined Kalmar FF where he spent 11 years at the club which gave him the record of the longest consecutive streak of managing a single Allsvenskan club. Between the years of 2002 and 2013, Nanne Bergstrand won the 2007 Svenska Cupen, the 2008 Allsvenskan and the Svenska Supercupen.

Stockholm club Hammarby IF appointed Bergstrand as their manager in 2014 where he won the Swedish Superettan in his first season at the club and gained promotion to the Allsvenskan. He then led the side to 2 consecutive 11th placed finishes before being sacked in 2016.

In 2017, Bergstrand took over from Peter Swärdh at Kalmar FF where he led the club to a 12th placed finish and survived relegation. The following season saw Kalmar FF finish 10th which saw Bergstrand sacked and replaced by caretaker manager Jens Nilsson. Before the start of the 2020 Allsvenskan season, Jens Nilsson was replaced by Nanne Bergstrand and is the current manager to this day.
