SL i-League Invitational Season 3 Preview

It is the time that roster shuffle period is locked and teams will be looking forward to compete at the first minor of the Dota 2 season, SL i-League Invitational Season 3.

The tournament will take place in the beautiful city of Ukraine, Kiev. The crowd will spectate a fierce amount of action from the 12th to 15th of October.

Prize pool

As far as the prize pool is concerned, Valve already announced that all the minors will have a prize pool of $300,000 USD with the exception of one. Along with the prize pool, the players will be rewarded with the qualification points which will determine their position at the eighth edition of The International.

The First Stage to earn points

It is said that the Minors are tournaments with a smaller prize pool and will give fewer points. While the Majors will have a base prize pool of at least five hundred thousand dollars and will give more points.

In particular, all Minors seem to give 300 points each, with only an ESL 400-point tournament. The Majors, on the other hand, are almost all 1500 points each. The exception of it is the last Major, which is still to be announced, and will be worth 2250 points.

The points will be earned based on the placement: The first one will take home 50% of the points, the second 30% and the third and fourth only 10%. One important clarification to do is that the points are earned by the players, not the teams. So, the players would love to get points on the board in the first minor of the competitive season.

Coaches Drafting in the First Minor

For the first time in the history of competitive Dota 2 get ready to see coaches drafting in the Star Ladder. From this season in the official professional matches, coaches will be joining the team during the draft phase. After the draft is over the coach will leave the competition area. This change will enhance the role of coaches in DotA 2 as well as the tension in the strategy phase. It will be an exciting site for the community to the coaches drafting in Kieve.
