The Open returns to The Birthplace of Golf, St Andrews, for the historic 150th anniversary, after 161 years and 149 Open Championships.

The Open 2021 is expected to go down as one of this generation's most historic golf tournaments. This will be played at St Andrews 'The Old Course, where Zach Johnson will practice

In 2015, when The Open was last played here, it was proclaimed Champion again.

Johnson triumphed in an intense four-hole playoff against Louis Oosthuizen and Marc Leishman of Australia's own. St Andrews has had a fair share of dramatic Open Championship finishes and boasts an impressive roster of champions such as Jack Nicklaus, Peter Thomson, John Daly, Sir Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods to name a few.

The 150th anniversary will be fiercely contested by the world's best golfers; for this momentous occasion, they must put on a show for a chance to etch their name onto the iconic Claret Jug. And you can be there, gazing at the final moments; the peace, the concentration, the tears and the triumph.

As an Authorized Provider we are proud to bring to The Open 2021 a wide range of Official Travel Packages. Official passes, catering and lodging options are included in the packages, only a short walk from The Old Course in St Andrews, Edinburgh, Dundee and Gleneagles We are also proud to be providing guaranteed tee times at premium links courses in St Andrews, which is a truly unique experience. Open decision made with a heavy heart'

This is the first time that The Open has been postponed since the World War Two tournaments of 1940-45 were not held.

The 149th Open will now be held at Royal St George's in Sandwich from July 11-18, 2021, which ensures that from July 10-17, 2022, R&A will be able to stage the 150th Open at St Andrews in Scotland.

The R&A said all tickets purchased for the tournament this year would be moved to next year's game, with full refunds for those people who can no longer participate.

BBC Sport acknowledges that the compensation policy for the R&A was pandemic, which would greatly mitigate the financial losses arising from the cancellation.

Slumbers added in a post on the R&A website: "We are extremely worried about this historic championship and have taken this decision with a heavy heart." We understand that this will be frustrating for a vast number of people around the world, but we have to behave responsibly during this pandemic and it's correct.
