The PGA Championship 2021

The PGA Championship is also known as USPGA, in 2021, it's 102nd edition is going to be happening at TPC Harding Park golf course. The course is par 70 and spans over 6,615 meters. PGA Open is one of the four major golf tournaments and is played as Stroke Play since 1958. Its prize money is $11 million, and the winner's take home will be 1,980,000 USD.

Previously, it was held in August and was the last major of the season, but 2020, it took place in May due to the situation of Corona Virus.

In the 2020's edition, American Professional and the former number golfer Brooks Koepka was the defending champion. Koepka was the top dog to lift the trophy as he defended his title in 2019. So odds were in his favor to make a hattrick. But an emerging player Collin Morikawa shocked the world and outscored many top professionals. Morikawa won this tournament while it was his only second appearance in any major tournament. Before this, he participated in The US open in 2019 and finished at the top 35.

On the final round of the PGA Championship, Dustin Johnson was the leader along with a score of nine-under-par, Morikawa was sharing the fourth position with Koepka and Pual Casey with -7. Morikawa reached here with two cards of 69, and while on the third day, he played 65; five-under-par.

While playing the back-nine, a total of seven players were sharing the lead at -10. Keopka was already left behind because of scoring back to back bogeys during the front-nine. Morikawa chipped in at hole number 14, this birdie made him a leader, and he did not look behind. An eagle at the 16th hole cemented his lead, so he played safe and made pars on the two last holes.

For the next tournament, we can consider Morikawa as a top dog because he has shown his supremacy in professional golf, and none sees his performance as a fluke. His consistency throughout the four days is proof of his class. Brooks Koepka is the top seed to win the USPGA 2010, he is already in his prime, and he can be victorious in any tournament in the world. Dustin Johnson is also declared as the top dog in this race. He has gained his form back and reclaimed his number one position in the professional ranking. Tiger Woods is out of his prime, and it looks he will not be able to reach any further milestone, but it is a fact that he has nothing to prove as he has already cemented his legacy and is named as GOAT along with Jack Nicklaus.
