Tokyo Summer Olympics 2021

The 2020 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXII Olympiad and also referred to as Tokyo 2020, is an upcoming international sports competition announced to take place between July 23 and August 8, 2021, in Tokyo, Japan. The event was originally scheduled to take place from July 24 to August 9, 2020, but was postponed in March 2020 due to the rapidly spreading of the COVID-19, and spectators from outside the country will not be permitted. Even though it has been rescheduled for 2021, the event name is still regarded as Tokyo 2020 for marketing and branding purposes.

The modern Olympic Games were introduced by Baron Pierre de Coubertin. The games were held in Athens, Greece on April 6, 1896, for the first time. These are major international contests that feature summer and winter sports competitions in which thousands of athletes from around the world take part in a number of events to keep their great accomplishments. With over 200 countries competing, the Olympic Games are regarded as the world's most important sporting event. This is held usually every four years, with the Summer and Winter Olympics interchanged every two years during that time.

New competitions, such as 3x3 basketball, Madison cycling, and freestyle BMX will be added to the 2020 Games, as well as more mixed events. These Games will include karate, surfing, sport climbing, and skateboarding get their Olympic debuts, as well as the restoration of baseball and softball for the first time since 2008. This is thanks to new IOC policies that acknowledge the host organizing committee to include new sports to the Olympic program to supplement the permanent core events.

Tokyo, Istanbul, and Madrid were the three candidate cities. Baku and Doha, two of the applicant cities, were not improved to candidate status, and Rome's bid has been revoked.

The IOC executive board accepted the official program for the 2020 Summer Olympics on June 9, 2017. The goal for the Tokyo Summer Olympics, according to IOC President Thomas Bach, was to deliver them more youthful and metropolitan attraction, as well as to boost the number of female competitors.

Tokyo 2020 will feature around 339 events across 33 distinctive sports, covering 50 disciplines in total. Along with the five new sports scheduled to debut in Tokyo, fifteen new events within remaining sports, such as freestyle BMX, 3x3 basketball, the return of Madison cycling, and new mixed events in several sports, are also designed.

In time for the 2020 Summer Olympics, Sony and Panasonic are joining with NHK to arrange broadcasting standards for 8K resolution televisions, planning to publish 8K television sets. The Italian broadcaster RAI declared in early 2019 that it would manipulate 8K broadcasts for the Games. Besides, there are other popular and rich companies had also shown interest to assist in developing the marketing and advertising process.

The IOC has approved five cities to host future Olympic Games such as Tokyo for the 2020 Summer Olympics, Beijing for the 2022 Winter Olympics, Paris for the 2024 Summer Olympics, Milan–Cortina for the 2026 Winter Olympics, and Los Angeles for the 2028 Summer Olympics.
