10 Best NBA Players Under 25

The modern NBA landscape is unique. Every year young and promising players start their journey. Many of those young players (sometimes in their early 20s) leave a major impact.

In this post, we look at some of the best NBA players under 25 who are set to become top players down the road.

Here they are -

Luka Doncic

Doncic happens to be the only player besides Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Anthony Davis to maintain a top spot year after year. He was selected third during the 2018 NBA draft. Doncic maintains an average of 28.6 points, 8.8 assists, and 8.1 rebounds this season.

Being only 22 years old, Luka is set to start in two of the All-Star Games. He was nominated for the second consecutive season in the All-NBA team. Such honors are likely to get him an extended 5-year extension worth $200 million in the offseason; making him easily the best NBA player.

Lonzo Ball

The assistant coach for New Orleans - Fred Vinson - helped Ball rework his form. He delivered excellent performances during his 3s in 2019-20. During his comeback, Ball improved to a 39% average beyond the arc. He is at his career-best right now with 78% at the foul line.

It’s unlikely that Lonzo will become a point guard, unlike his brother. However, he continues to remain a key player for years ahead; all thanks to his strong defense, shooting, and transitional passing.

Michael Porter

This is another player who deserves a spot on the top 10 list. During his performance across 14 games, he maintained an average of 20.3 points from 59.5 shooting. He also posted a 9.1 rebound with only one turnover/game.

Porter was the last pick in the 2018 draft. He is expected to get a rookie extension this offseason.

Zion Williamson

Since last season, Zion Williamson has come a long way, solidifying his position with a promising sophomore campaign. With an expansion in his dribble playing and creation, Williamson continues to improve his scores every month throughout the season. He managed to do so without compromising his high shooting percentage.

It’s only fair that the young NBA player translates this individual's brilliance and promise towards his team’s success. This is more true as the Pelicans fight for a place in the tournament.

Devin Booker

Devin has joined the ranks of Simmons as being the only player to have appeared on the list of 25-under-25 for 5 consecutive years. That's promising for sure.

Booker is responsible for elevating the status of a perennial lottery team into a record-setting second-best team. He scored over 30 points across 13 games. Booker's most promising performance this season was during his win against Chicago.

De'Aaron Fox

Fox happens to be among the 7 players from a Kings franchise who seems to be headed in a promising career direction. He averaged 7 assists and 24 points per game.

Fox had slowed a bit last season but he is recovering well. He’s trying to find that balance between the defense and his blazing speed. Reports say that Fox continues to generate the 5th most points per game on drives. His goal percentage is 70% efficient on shots.

Ben Simmons

Since 2018, Ben continues to remain among the top five performers of his team. It was only this year that he lost that spot. Despite that, he continues to remain a promising defensive player on the team and is likely to get nominated for an All-defense in the coming season.

In deflections, he holds the fourth rank and in loose balls, he stands at the second spot. Ben is a huge reason that the 76ers maintain the second rank in defensive efficiency.

Ja Morant

Thanks to Morant’s performance and winning impact, the Grizzlies are looking at a playoff hunt. He carries the potential of a superstar. His confidence is unshakeable and he is one of the most promising passers in the league.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Shai will likely continue to remain on the top-performers list in the coming year as well. It seems like Chris Paul has passed the baton to SGA as we can see he continues to improve his efficiency while shouldering a huge load during his 3rd season.

Shai is among the top 8 players to maintain an average of 23 points with 60% true shooting and 5 assists.

This smooth guard is improving his shooting stroke with 42% from 3.

Deandre Ayton

Despite a low career average, Ayton is picking up the pace. Right now, he is having the best season so far. His offense rate was 115.8 with 60.8 on-field shooting and a 63.7% true percentage.

Deandre, just like Bridges might get an offseason rookie extension.

In Conclusion

Time and again, these young players have proved their mettle. It won’t be surprising if one of these becomes the next big thing in the NBA. It remains to be seen which ones will maintain a winning streak through seasons to come.
