The Danish Handball League, officially known as 888ligaen for sponsorship reasons, is the men's top Danish professional handball league. The winners of the Danish Handball League are recognised as the Danish handball champions.

Skjern Håndbold and Bjerringbro-Silkeborg were the finalist of the championship in 2017/2018 season.

The structure has been changed in both the ladies and men's handball leagues for the new season. Get an overview here. There are still two goals, 14 players on the pitch and two points to win in each match. On the other hand, several other things have been changed in the Danish leagues for this handball season.

In the Ladies League there has been a significant change in the structure of this season - namely that it is now the eight best teams that move on to the final game. Earlier it was only the six best.

But also in the 888 League for men, there has been a change in the league structure and introduced a new league qualifier game, so no teams will be sent on early summer holidays already after 26 matches.

As something new, the season is not over after the base game for the teams finishing 9-13, just outside the final game. Instead, a so-called 'league qualification game' has been introduced - ie an up and down game Numbers 9 and 10 from the base game get two points for the league qualification game, numbers 11 and 12 get one point with but number 13 must be done without points from the start

In the league qualification game, the five teams meet once after the following match, where the home advantage is determined in advance: No.13 - No.11, No.12 - No.10, No.9 - No.12, No.10 - No. 11, No. 10 - 13, No. 11 - No.9, No.13 - No.9, No.11-12, No. 9 - No. 10, No. 12-13

The lowest ranked team of the five after the qualifying game plays against number two or three from the 1st division on a league board. Numbers two and three from the 1st Division have played the best of three matches for the right to meet the league. The winner of the league qualification game will also receive a cash win of 75,000 kroner.

Swedish Marcus Dahlin has spent a year on his contract so he stays in Mors-Thy until summer 2019. 888ligaen’s third-largest scoring player will be in Mors-Thy Handball next season. The club announces that it has extended the agreement with Swedish Marcus Dahlin to summer 2019. "We did a great thing when we got Marcus to the club, so we've made it even bigger now by holding him for another year as there have been several offers from other clubs both in Denmark and abroad," says Mors- Thy's sports director, Henrik Hedegaard, to the club's website.

"I'm enjoying and doing good at Mors-Thy Handball, where I have a good role and get lots of confidence and playing time - and so I'm fond of Søren Hansen, who is a coach right after my head, says the Swedish top scorer.
