Who are Djurgårdens IF managers Kim Bergstrand and Thomas Lagerlöf?

Kim Hilding Bergstrand was born in Täby, Stockholm, Sweden on the 18th of April, 1968. Before going into management, Bergstrand played as a striker for Swedish clubs such as AIK, Hammarby IF and Brommapojkarna, Kim Bergstrand is the current manager of Djurgårdens IF along with Thomas Lagerlöf.

Thomas Lagerlöf was also born in Stockholm, Sweden on the 15th of November, 1971. Lagerlöf also played football before going into management and played as a midfielder for AIK, FK Lyn and Brommapojkarna.

Kim Bergstrand started his playing career at AIK in 1986 where he made 148 competitive appearances for the club scoring 30 goals. In 1995, Bergstrand signed for Hammarby IF where he played for 2 seasons making 84 appearances scoring 28 goals. Bergstrand then made 40 appearances for Nacka FF between 1998 and 2001 and then made 21 appearances for Brommapojkarna in his only season at the club.

Thomas Lagerlöf spent 11 years at AIK making 208 competitive appearances for the club and scored 15 goals from midfield. In 2002, Lagerlöf signed for FK Lyn making 43 appearances and scored 6 goals in his 2 years at the club. Lagerlöf then joined Brommapojkarna where he made 57 appearances for the side before retiring in 2007.

Kim Bergstrand started his managerial career at his former club Nacka FF in 2001, he then worked at Brommapojkarna and IK Sirius between the years of 2003 and 2017 before joining current side Djurgårdens IF in 2018.

Thomas Lagerlöf started off as AIK’s assistant manager in 2007 after retiring from football. Lagerlöf then moved to Väsby United in 2008 before joining Kim Bergstrand at IK Sirius between the years of 2012 and 2017. In 2018, Lagerlöf was appointed Djurgårdens IF manager alongside Kim Bergstrand who he worked with at IK Sirius.

So far in Lagerlöf and Bergstrand’s time at Djurgårdens IF, they’ve won the 2017-18 Svenska Cupen along with winning the 2019 Allsvenskan title (which was the club’s first league title in 14 years) and a semi-final appearance in the Svenska Cupen in the same season.
