Get your game on in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia because Kuala Lumpur is about to host the first Dota 2 Major league for the Dota Pro of season 2018 by 2019.

Sports and Youth Minister Syed Abdul Rahman Syed Saddiq announced that the KL Major will be live at the Axiata Arena from 16th of November to 18 – and the prize is a cool RM3.9 million ($1 million) tag.

Qualifiers, begin on 9th of Nov, are open to teams from all over the globe, while the final 16th teams will battle it out for the final prize.

The amazing news is that all qualifiers will take a share of the cash, with $350,000 going to the top winner… dropping down to $10,000 for the thirteen to sixteenth-placed groups.

On the launch event, Syed Saddiq stated that the KL Major will play a vital role in boosting the level of the esports industry on the international stage.

"Malaysia is among the 6th esports nations in Asia probably Southeast, which accounts for over 89 per cent of esports addict in this region.

“Malaysia has the power to be the esports hub because our youngsters are intense about esports,” he stated.

Tickets for the Kuala Lumpur or KL Major, which is organised by China's local TV network eGG Network and ImbaTV, are priced to RM600 from RM180.

U-Mobile and Astro users will have priority to purchase the event tickets, on top of a 20% discount.

Sports and Youth Minister Syed Abdul Rahman Syed Saddiq has pledged to convert Malaysia into an esports main hub not only in Asia but throughout the world.

Syed Sadiq also stated he aims to tap into the $billion industry and increase its growth in Malaysia to help with the youth development of the country.

“I will try my quality best to bring investments, facilities, and development there is so that players and esports gamers will have a place.

"If they can’t come to Singapore, they don’t have to, because at the end of the line, in a place called home sweet home, we can lead it to them.

Syed Sadiq was interviewing during a 2-day work visit to Singapore where he visited the youth hubs of the country to look into the chance of building similar hubs or centres locally.

Earlier, the youngest minister of the country managed to watch the League of Legends team of Malaysia advancing to the final level in the first Asean League of Legends tournament at Hyperplay Singapore.

Hyperplay, which was held at the Indoor Stadium of Singapore, brings youngsters together through two of the biggest cornerstones today – music and esports.

Out of 899 events held in the first 8 months of the year, 199 or 30% were new events choosing the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) for the primary time.

Banqueting events such as corporate sales segment and corporate meetings recorded the biggest growth of the segment of the centre’s business, with a jump of 201 events which was a 22 per cent increase in compared to the same time period the previous year.
