DreamHack Open Winter 2018

DreamHack is a company specialized in eSports tournaments and other gaming events. The company is recognized by the Twin Galaxies and the Guinness Book of Records as being the largest LAN party of the world and the most generated traffic. DreamHack is also known as the massive digital festival of the world and its events include LAN gathering with live competitions and concerts in both eSports and Digital art. The premium eSports circuit of DreamHack is DreamHack Open, introducing 8 live LAN tour across the globe. The official title included in Dreamhack Open is CS: GO (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive). CS: GO deals with FPS genre and supports Multiplayer mode. The events, competitions, and festivals of DreamHack take place in several locations of North America and Europe.

Each event in the tournament comprises six direct invites, offered to teams based on merits through results and ranking. In the competition, teams will have an opportunity to qualify for the events via qualifiers and each event will introduce at least one qualifier match for North America and European Region. Five direct invites will be offered, one for each of qualifiers in North America and Europe, while the last spot will be issued to a wildcard team in the region.

DreamHack Open tournament will span around three days and have up to eight teams divided into groups of four teams, participating in double elimination bracket to determine the two teams progressing to the playoffs. Both starting and winner’s matches will be set in Best-of-one (Bo1) format, while group stage’s remainder will be played Best-of-three (Bo3) format. The four teams proceeding to the playoffs will face off each other in a single elimination bracket set in Best-of-three format.

The tournament will run from November 30 to December 2 in Jonkoping, Sweden. In the competition, eight teams will battle against each other in the form of two groups for the rewards of $100,000 prize-pool. Eight invited teams who compete against each other in the tournament, are Complexity, Ence eSports, G2 eSports, Heroic, Team LDLC, Optic Gaming, X6tence Galaxy, and Bravado Gaming. The tournament is sponsored by Corsair, Monster Energy, GG.Bet, Astro Gaming, and H4XGG.


Group Stage

Two double-elimination format groups of four teams per each

•    Opening and Winners’ matches are Best-of-one

•    Elimination and Decider matches are Best-of-three

Two winner teams from each group qualify to the Playoffs


•    Single-elimination Bracket

•    All Matches are Best-of-three

In the event, the team with the first position in the tournament will be rewarded with $50,000, the team with the 2nd position will make $20,000, and the team with the third and fourth position will earn up to $10,000.  Teams with the 5th and 6th position will be claimed their rewards of $3,000, while 7th and 8th teams with $2,000.
