Who is Fiorentina manager Cesare Prandelli?

Claudio Cesare Prandelli was born on the 19th of August, 1957 in Orzinuovi, Italy and is the current manager of Fiorentina. Prandelli previously played professional football as a midfielder for Italian sides such as Juventus, Atalanta and Cremonese.

Prandelli graduated from the youth academy of Cremonese in 1974 where he made 88 appearances over the course of 4 seasons winning the 1976/77 Serie C in the process. In 1978, Prandelli signed for Atalanta for a season before moving on to Juventus just a year later.

In his time at Juventus, Prandelli won 4 Serie A titles, a Coppa Italia title, a European Cup title, a UEFA Winners Cup title and a UEFA Super Cup. He had a hugely successful time at the club making 89 appearances before returning to Atalanta in 1985. His second spell at Atalanta saw him make 119 competitive appearances before retiring in 1990.

After going into management, Cesare Prandelli took charge of the Atalanta youth side and had a spell as the caretaker manager of the first team. In 1997, Prandelli had his first managerial job at Lecce as their new head coach. He then went on to work at Verona, Venezia, Parma, Roma, Fiorentina, the Italian National team, Galatasaray, Valencia, Al Nasr, Genoa and Fiorentina.

Alongside his playing honours, Prandelli also won numerous managerial honours. At Hellas Verona, he won the 1998/99 Serie B and as the Italian head coach he finished as a runner up in Euro 2012 along with a third-place finish in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup. Individual awards won by Prandelli also included 2 Panchina d'Oro’s, a Serie A Coach of the Year award, the 2009 Premio Internazionale Giacinto Facchetti, the 2011 Enzo Bearzot Award and was named as Fiorentina’s best manager of all time in 2016.
