Shota Arveladze – Hull City

Hull City has officially confirmed that the club was taken over by Turkish businessman Acun Ilicali. Big changes in the Hall. In 61 appearances for the Georgian national football team, he scored 26 goals, and in the UEFA Europa League, he scored 27 goals, making him the 5th most successful scorer of this prestigious competition.

Shota was very efficient as striker and he was top goal scorer at least in one season in Dinamo Tbilisi, Ajax and Trabzonspor. He is also known as the most loved foreign player in Trabzonspor. He also played in Az Alkmar, Rangers and Levante and he was known as modest player who will finish his task as asked and professionaly.

Right after retirement from playing he began his career as manager. He firstly was assistant-manager of Louis Van Gaal in AZ. He was at that position until 2010-2011 season when he started his first job as manager. He was appointed as manager of Kayserispor. After one season he was appointed as manager of Kasimpasa from Istanbul. He spent there 2 seasons before joining Trabzonspor where he remained only few months. In 2016 he finally left Turkey and found himself new challenge in Israel as manager of Maccabi Tel Aviv. He didn’t match the expectations of the fans and board and was sucked in the middle of the season.

In 2017 he was appointed as manager of Pakhtakor Tashkent FK in Uzbekistan where he won the league and twice the national Cup which are only trophies for Shota as manager so far. On 27th January 2022 he was appointed as manager of Hull City in English Championship. Shota has tight relation with the new owner and he had worked with him several times in Turkey. However, friend with the owner or not in Hull he will has to deliver and to improve the current situation. Hull finished in 19th position last season and Shota will have a lot of work to do if he wants so remain as manager there and to success.
