Who will win the 2020/21 EFL League Two?

The 2019/20 EFL League Two season was disrupted due to the Coronavirus pandemic which hit sporting events hard across the globe. This meant that the League Two season was decided by a “points per game” system and resulted in Swindon Town winning the title, along with Crewe Alexandra, Plymouth Argyle and Northampton Town joining them to the EFL League One via promotion.

After 24 games played, Cambridge United sit at the top of the table and in prime position to win the title. They’ve won 12 games, 5 draws and have 41 points to their name and will be desperate to reach the EFL League One next season. Mark Bonner will need his top players such as loanee Hiram Boateng, Wes Hoolahan, Jack Iredale and Liam O'Neil to be on top form if they are to defend their top spot by the end of the season.

Welsh side Newport County sit in second place after 22 games on 40 points and will believe they’re favourites to gain promotion with their 2 fewer games played than Cambridge United. They also have top players in their squad such as Padraig Amond, Ryan Taylor and Luke Gambin who’ll be able to compete with their title rivals.

Chris Beech’s Carlisle United currently sit in third place and in the final automatic promotion space in the table on 39 points after 21 games. Along with Newport County, Carlisle will hope their games in hand over Cambridge United will give them an edge and will be their inspiration to go out and get the title.

Other sides who could be in with a shout of winning the title with a strong second half to the season are free-spending Salford City, Forest Green Rovers, Cheltenham Town and Exeter City who currently occupy the playoff spots from 4th to 7th.
