The 2019–20 Pro A season being cancelled

The 2019–20 Pro A season, was the 98th season of the Pro A and it was the third season with Jeep as main sponsor. The season started on 21 September 2019 and on 31 March 2020, the league was suspended until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On 27 May 2020, the league was declared void and cancelled since there is no longer a scenario for the potential resumption of the season in September. No champion was named for the first time in the history of the league.

The LNB is making its plans for the upcoming season 2020-2021 season

The LNB has sent to the clubs of the two French professional leagues Jeep Elite (first division) and Pro B (second division) a document that includes several proposals that have to do with the format, number of teams and other details regarding the 2020-2021 season.

Per L’Equipe, the LNB proposed a couple of resolution options for the upcoming season. The LNB general assembly met on May 27 and decided whether the 2020-2021 season will feature 18 or 20 teams and even the possibility of playing all or a part of the games behind closed doors. Regarding the number of teams, LNB has considered several frames in which teams will be or not be promoted/relegated between the two major divisions. These plans will determine the ultimate number of teams that the leagues will feature.

At the end of the regular season 2020-2021, there will be two descents and two climbs between Jeep Elite and Pro B. The format in place since 2014 with twice 18 clubs will therefore be extended for at least two seasons, while the elite was to be reduced to 16 clubs, with three descents and a single climb of Pro B, At the end of the season 2019-2020. The white season was privileged by a majority relative to the costs of the three other forms of competitions subject to votes : the move to twenty clubs, with two promotions of Pro B clubs, the maintenance twice 18 clubs with descents and climbs and the fusion of the seasons 2019-2020 and 2020-2021.
