Henrik Per Erik Rydström was born in Karlskrona, Sweden on the 16th of February, 1976 and is the current manager of IK Sirius. As a player, Rydström became a fan favourite for Kalmar FF where he made over 500 appearances for the club in midfield.

Henrik Rydström started his playing career in the youth academy of Listerby IK, he then moved on to Kalmar FF in 1993. Rydström became a legend at the club making 551 competitive appearances for Kalmar FF scoring 23 goals from defensive midfield. Along with this impressive record, Rydström made over another 250 appearances in friendly games and non-competitive games. This means that Henrik Rydström holds the club record at Kalmar FF for the most games played with an impressive 802 games to his name.

In his time at Kalmar FF, Rydström won the 2008 Allsvenskan, the 2007 Svenska Cupen and the 2009 Svenska Supercupen. Along with these team honours, Rydström was voted as the best captain in the 2008 Allsvenskan season. When Rydström left Kalmar FF in 2013, he was recognised as the 6th longest serving player in the world for players who have played for the same club ahead of legends such as Franco Baresi, Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville.

Rydström took different player-manager roles at IFK Berga, Listerby IK and Hossmo BK before going into full-time management where he returned to Kalmar FF. At Kalmar FF, Rydström worked in different roles such as assistant manager, under 21’s manager and was even the caretaker manager with all of these roles coming between the years of 2016 and 2018.

In his caretaker role, he took over until the end of the season where he kept Kalmar FF in the Allsvenskan with a 10th place finish. However, he didn’t renew his contract and moved on the following season.

In 2019, Henrik Rydström joined IK Sirius before the start of their Allsvenskan campaign taking over from previous managers Kim Bergstrand and Thomas Lagerlöf. His opening season at the club saw an 11th placed finish which was an improvement on previous seasons.
