The 2018 Tour de France will start in Vendee on July 7th and will end on 28th of the same month in Champs-Elysees. This year’s edition is considered to be harder and with tough competition from all the world-class professional cyclists.  This year’s competition is expected to attract over 3700 spectators, 160 media houses, 300 journalists and photographers and 14 nationalities. Who is expected to win Tour de France 2018?

Chris Froome

Bookmakers are backing Chris Froome to win his fifth Tour de France. It should be understood that Froome is the defending Tour de France champion with his Sky Team. He won the last year’s edition by 54 seconds over Rigoberto Uran. He is expected to win this year’s competition and join Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, Miguel Indurain, and Jacques Anquetil in successfully winning five Tour de France competitions. With odds changing every now and then, Froome is still tipped to win this year’s Tour.

Tom Dumoulin

Tom is considered the second favorite contender to win the 2018 Tour de France. He is a Dutch professional road cyclist racing for the UCI WorldTeam Sunweb. The reasons why bookmakers predict that he will win the 2018 Tour de France is because he won the 2017 Giro d’Italia and also won World Individual men’s time trial Championships. He is the first Dutchman to ever win Giro d’Italia and this puts him in a favorite position to win this year’s Tour.

Richie Porte

Richie Porte a professional Australian cyclist is also tipped to be one of the top contenders for the 2018 Tour de France. He is considered a favorite to win this year’s Tour because of his outstanding performance during the 2017 Tour. Although he crashed out on stage nine and bringing his Tour to a disappointing end, Porte brings experience and resilience to this year’s Tour.

Nairo Quintana

Despite finishing out of the top 10 in 2017, Quintana is also tipped to mount a challenge against the favorites to win the 2018 Tour de France. The Columbian performed well in the 2017 Tour but because of the heavy rain and treacherous conditions his right-hand man Alejandro Valverde crashed out and this was a disappointment to team Movistar. With all the disappointments behind him now, Quintana is tipped to mount a lot of pressure on other cyclists.

Mikel Landa

The Spanish professional road cyclist is also poised to be among the top contenders for the 2018 Tour de France. He played an instrumental part in helping Team Sky to win the 2017 Tour de France with Chris Froome as the final winner. He managed to take the fourth position overall and this is one of the things the betting markets are banking on.

Rigoberto Uran

Rigoberto is a Columbian professional road cyclist. In the 2017 Tour de France General Classification, he was the second overall and he is tipped to give Froome a ran for his money in this year’s Tour. Riding for Cannondale-Drapac, a UCI pro team. In the 2016 Giro d’Italia, he was placed 7th overall in the General classification and this gave him the much-needed experience to compete in the 2017 Tour de France.
