Who is Burnley manager Sean Dyche?

Sean Dyche is the current Burnley manager after being appointed in October 2012 replacing the previous manager Eddie Howe. Dyche was born on 28 June 1971 in Kettering, England and is 48 years of age. Dyche previously played football professionally for clubs around England such as Nottingham Forest, Bristol City and Watford at centre back.

Dyche came through the Nottingham Forest youth academy in 1987 and broke into the first team 2 years later, however, he never made a competitive appearance for the club before moving on to Chesterfield in 1990. He spent 7 years at Chesterfield where he made 231 competitive appearances for the club scoring 8 goals as he joined Bristol City in 1997. Whilst at Bristol, he was sent out on loan to Luton Town before permanently joining Milwall in 1999. He then made 72 appearances for Watford and 56 appearances for Northampton Town between the years of 2002 and 2007 before retiring from football.

After retiring from football in 2007, Dyche joined Watford as a coach in the u18’s youth setup. Sean Dyche then started his managerial career at Watford in June 2011 after being promoted from assistant manager due to Malky Mackay leaving to join Cardiff City. In his opening season at the club, Dyche guided the club to an 11th placed finish in the EFL Championship which was the club’s best finish in 4 years. Due to a change in ownership at the club, Dyche was removed from his role at the club at the end of the season.

As a player, Dyche won the EFL Second Division in 2000-01 and finished as runner up in 1997-98 and 2005-06. However, as a manager, Dyche has won many more honours including Premier League Manager of the Month award in March 2018 along with 4 EFL Championship Manager of the Month awards in September 2013, October 2013, April 2014 and February 2016.

In October 2012, Sean Dyche replaced Eddie Howe as the Burnley manager after the latter rejoined AFC Bournemouth. In his time at Burnley, Dyche won the EFL Championship in the 2015-16 season along with finishing second in the 2013-14 season, both of these seasons gave the club promotion to the Premier League. Whilst being in the Premier League since 2016-17, Burnley have finished 16th, 7th and 15th and have been getting mid-table results week in week out. Next season, Dyche will aim to keep Burnley in the Premier League and he’ll hope the club don’t get dragged into a relegation battle.
