Steve Morison – Cardiff City

Blue birds once Premier League members had a lot of problems in the first part of the seasons and were in a very bad series of results. Because of that Mick McCarthy is no longer the manager of Cardiff. He came in the club as a manager who knows how to lift the teams he managed to the next level, but he failed to do so in Cardiff.

After many rumors, thirty-eight years old Steve Morrison was appointed as care-taker. Although without some previous experience in managing on this level, his previous job was at Cardiff City U 23 team, his influence was noticed from the first match.

The defense was improved, while the attack became a shade more efficient. It was superfluous to talk about any fight for promotion at that moment, but the middle of the table at the very end, when the line is drawn, seems like a realistic and optimal goal. The Welsh do not play attractive football, to put it mildly, they mostly lurk from the counter, consciously leaving the possession of the ball to almost every one of their rivals. There were rare moments when the fans of this team could rejoice, but with Morison the fans and the board were much happier than before.

Morison is former striker so it isn’t surprising that his team is more concentrated on the attack. He was born in Enfield, England and started his professional football career in Northampton Town. After several season spent in Northampton Town, Bishop’s Stortford and Stevenage he will make transfer to Millwall.

Millwall surrounding seems to please Morison and his for improved a lot there so in season 2011-2012 he made the transfer of his career joining Norwich who at the time was promoted to the Premier League.  Morison played 37 matched that season scoring 10 goals and the next season he was always on the bench so after one and a half year he made another transfer to Leeds United in the Championship. But even there he couldn’t find himself so he joined Millwall again, this time on loan. After that he was back to Leeds shortly before moving to Millwall for the 3rd time. During his 3 period in Millwall he played over 300 matches and scored 92 goals for the team which makes him 3rd best all time Millwall’s top goalscorer. After that he played shortly in League One for Shrewsbury Town, but he gave his best during his time in Millwall.

He also recorded 20 appearances for Wales national football team and scored 1 goal.

Last season he won the Manager of the month March in the Championship among very big competition of experienced managers which isn’t small thing for young manager on the first serious job. At the end Cardiff City finished on the 18th position but surely for the next season fans and the board will expect much more and Morison will be under great pressure.
