Who is Chelsea manager Frank Lampard?

Frank Lampard is the current Chelsea manager after replacing Maurizio Sarri as he left to join Juventus in July 2019. Lampard was born in Romford, London, England on 20 June 1978 and is 41 years of age. Frank Lampard previously played professional football in midfield for clubs around England and Wales such as Chelsea, Swansea City, Manchester City and West Ham United.

In 1994, Frank Lampard came through the West Ham youth academy where he broke into the first team the following year by going on loan to South Walian club Swansea City. Whilst at Swansea City, Lampard made 9 competitive appearances and scored 1 goal before returning to West Ham at the end of the season. Lampard made 148 appearances for West Ham and scored 24 goals over a 6 year stint at the club.

Chelsea bought Frank Lampard for 11 million pounds in June 2001 from West Ham, Lampard made 429 competitive appearances for the club and scored 147 goals over a 13 year period at the club. Whilst at Chelsea, he won 3 Premier League titles, 4 FA Cups, 2 Football League Cups, 2 FA Community Shields, 1 UEFA Champions League title and 1 Europa League title. He also won numerous individual awards which included English player of the year awards, Midfielder of the year awards and inclusions in many team of the seasons.

Lampard then went on to play for English side Manchester City and American side New York City where he made 32 and 29 competitive appearances respectively before retiring in 2016. Frank Lampard also played for England u21, England B and the England National team as he made over 100 appearances for the National team between the years of 1999 to 2014.

Frank Lampard decided to go into management after retiring in 2014, he was appointed manager of Derby County in May 2018. Lampard took Derby County to the Championship playoff final in his first season at the club where he unfortunately lost to Aston Villa. However, this didn’t deter the Chelsea interest as they replaced Maurizio Sarri with Frank Lampard in July 2019. Lampard is the first English manager to take charge of the club in nearly two decades and the fans are delighted. The fans will be hoping Lampard is the one to take Chelsea through a successful season in both the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League in the upcoming campaign.
