Who will win the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership?

The 2020/21 Scottish Premiership will be the eighth edition of the new formatted league after the Premiership merged with the Scottish Football league back in 2013. Celtic are the defending champions after winning the 2019/20 tournament which was cut short due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Due to the 2019/20 table standings, Dundee United were promoted from the Scottish Championship and Hearts were relegated from the Premiership.

Celtic are looking to make history in the 2020/21 season by winning the Scottish first division for a record 10th time. Neil Lennon is the man in charge and has been in the job since taking over from Brendan Rogers in 2019. This is Lennon’s second time managing Celtic with his first stint between the years of 2010 and 2014. Celtic have the best squad in the Scottish Premiership by far with a roster including the likes of Odsonne Édouard, Olivier Ntcham, Christopher Jullien and James Forrest.

Celtic’s main threat to the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership title is also their direct rivals in Rangers FC. They have a young manager in Steven Gerrard who is passionate and wants to succeed with the club. Players such as Alfredo Morelos, Ianis Hagi, Ryan Kent and Nikola Katic are all young and have already achieved a lot at the club, they’ll be vital in their challenge for the title.

Motherwell had an excellent 2019/20 season with a third place finish which qualified them for the Europa League first qualifying round. If they can hold on to their star midfielder David Turnbull and add to the squad in the upcoming transfer window, they’ll definitely be able to push for a similar league position next season.

Aberdeen have a talented young squad with youngsters such as Scott McKenna and Lewis Ferguson who helped the squad finish fourth in the 2019/20 season. They made the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup and the quarter-finals of the Scottish league cup under manager Derek McInnes. Other teams who could be the surprise package in the 2020/21 season are Livingston, St Johnstone and Hibernian.
