Who will win the 2022 FIFA World Cup?

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be held in Qatar and after many years of suspense, we’re finally in the year of the tournament. Favourites to lift the World Cup trophy include the likes of Brazil, defending champions France, Spain, European champions Italy and England along with some dark horses in Argentina, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Brazil are the favourites to win the World Cup and when you look at their talent-filled squad, it's no wonder. Neymar, Marquinhos, Casemiro and Vinícius Júnior are just a few of their talented players who’ll be hoping to lift the trophy in the prime of their careers.

In Europe, the defending champions France have a similarly talented squad with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, N'Golo Kanté, Karim Benzema and captain Hugo Lloris making up the spine of their team. Just across the border the European champions Italy will also believe they have a great chance of winning the tournament to cap off an incredible two years.

Spain and England could also come through and be in with a chance of winning the tournament following impressive European championship displays last year. However, both sides have very young squads and this tournament may have come too soon for them.

Argentina and Portugal have Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo respectively and it seems likely to be their last major tournaments. Their fans will be desperate to see their heroes lift the trophy and the teams will be putting everything in place in order to achieve this.

Other sides that will be going into the tournament with high hopes are Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and the 2018 world cup finalists Croatia. Regardless, the tournament looks set to be a great spectacle as the first winter world cup which will take place over November and December.
