Who is Liverpool's manager?

Jürgen Klopp is the current Liverpool manager after joining the prestigious club in October 2015. Klopp was born in Stuttgart, Germany on 16 June 1967. Klopp played football professionally for clubs around Germany such as Mainz 05, Eintracht Frankfurt’s B team and 1. FC Pforzheim.

Between the years of 1987 and 2001, Klopp played for 1. FC Pforzheim, Eintracht Frankfurt II, Viktoria Sindlingen, Rot-Weiss Frankfurt and Mainz 05. He made 329 competitive appearances throughout his career scoring 52 goals before retiring in 2001. He usually played at centre back but made many appearances at striker hence why he’s scored so many goals throughout his career.

Klopp was appointed by Mainz 05 in February 2001 after retiring from playing. In his third season at Mainz, Klopp took the club to the Bundesliga after being promoted from the 2. Bundesliga for the first time in the club’s history. In the three seasons in the Bundesliga, Mainz finished 11th twice and relegated in the third year despite having the smallest budget and the smallest stadium in the league. Klopp stayed with the club after they were relegated, but after failing to gain promotion in the following season, he signed a 2 year contract with German club Borussia Dortmund.

After joining Borussia Dortmund in May 2008, he had a hugely successful spell at the club winning the 2010-11 and 2011-12 Bundesliga, the 2011-12 DFB Pokal, the 2013 and 2014 DFL Supercup and finished as a runner up in the UEFA Champions League in 2013. Due to these successful few seasons at the club, Liverpool approached the German manager in 2015.

In October 2015, Klopp was appointed as Liverpool manager replacing previous manager Brendan Rogers. In his 4 seasons at the club, Klopp guided Liverpool to an 8th, 4th, 4th and then 2nd placed finish. In his third season at the club, Klopp took the club to a UEFA Champions League final but lost to Real Madrid 3-1. However, he made up for it in the following season where he beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the final to win the Champions League.
